Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

This is my 15 week old f1b goldendoodles up-close coat picture. It’s a little hard to tell, but she is light apricot color. We noticed that she has a blonde band of color and then at the very root, close to her skin it is red/apricot. Do you guys think she’ll end up being blonde or stay apricot?? Has anyone seen this before on their doodle and how did they turn out?536CE330-5DAD-4D77-9C08-9F868E1953C1.jpeg

She will get darker, but then may get lighter! IN the doodle world, everything is unpredictable!

There isn’t any specific for you to follow. In general doodles lighten so my first guess is that your doodle will be cream. However some golden retriever dogs darken with age, so goldendoodles can also. I have a rescue boy that we got at two. He was cream with dark apricot ears, tail and undercoat. Over the years, he’s ten now, his ears have lightened, his body has darkened and his tail is still darker apricot. Overall I’d call him a  lighter apricot now.

That looks a bit like Luna's hair when she was a pup but hers was straight.  She was very light apricot when we got her then darkened to a much darker orange/apricot on most of her body.  The base of each hair stayed light but the tips got much darker.
