f1B vs multigen goldendoodle - which has the potential to shed less?

We are trying to narrow what type of puppy to get.  I have read conflicting information about the potential to shed.  Are we better off with an f1B or a multi-gen golden doodle if my family has some allergy issues.  Thanks for your input!

Yes. This. Also, how you react to those allergens of a specific dog. Meaning even all purebred dogs are not going to be exacly the same.

As karen said, you can't even meet a pup and be sure that as an adult there will be no allergy issues--but if you want to take a chance (You said "some allergy issues, so maybe it is not that severe), than my recommendation would be F1B and the curlier the better---if it is a protein in the saliva that causes the allergies, it will be there in the pup--so be sure to meet the pup beforehand and make sure you handle ONLY the curlier pups one at a time to see if you react to each one. Do NOT pet or handle the others or the mother dog.

A multigen doodle will work if quite curly , but will look the same as a curly F1B, so why not go with a dog that has more poodle and be safer--or as Karen said, get a purebred dog--Portuguese water dogs are great too!

I have 2 F1B golden doodles that don't shed. My next door neighbor has a F1 labraboodle that doesn't shed, but several of her littermate shed like crazy. It all depends on the genes. You never know. Good luck.

If you have allergies getting any dog is a huge gamble. Allergies can get either better or worse when living with a pet. It is incredibly unpredictable. You can develope a tolerance to your dog or you can be miserable! Allergies aren't just about the shedding but it's more about how you tolerate a particular dog's dander, urine and saliva. As has been already stated puppies are very unpredictable.
I've recently went through the decision making process. Hoping I made the right choice.
We have a F1b. He is only 11 weeks so very little shedding at this point. My daughter and I are both somewhat allergic to dogs. Shedding (we are previous lab owners) wasn't our concern but salvia is. Six hours after visiting the puppies I was covered in hives on my arms that hadn't been washed and the pups had been mouthing on. We still got the pup. I am unable to brush him. My eyes will sometimes develope hives. My husband brushes him daily and bathes him weekly. We do lots of hand washing and aquaphor as a barrier on areas likely to develope hives.
Before we made the decision to get the pup we did extensive visiting with other dogs and our local humane society. My daughter can lay her face on golden retriever and be fine. If she gets licked however it's hives. We choose our doodle because she didn't get hives when licked on her arms by him. We did the t-shirt thing too.
I wish you luck with your decision making process. I was terrible conflicted for months. Fortunately, we found a somewhat local breeder who we were able to visit twice before putting a deposit down.
I hope I don't get flamed for this but if you are a allergy family you need a backup plan for your doodle. I reached out to a woman who breeds hypoallergenic cats. Part of her contract includes having a non allergy home backup plan. It really made me think long and hard before we proceeded. In the end for us we had to try.

Potential?  They all have the potential to be non-shedding dogs.  Best thing is to take a look at the parents or go with a non-shedding breed if it is an issue in your family.  I would suggest a standard poodle.  They are great dogs and non shedding.
