I just got a call from DH. He took our Lola to his work, which is a giant field  where she can run and play. I answered the phone to "So our beautiful little girl just rolled in a pile of *&$%". She had the ENTIRE field in which to roll around, and the picked the pile of poop. Do any of your doodles have this fascination with poop???

Jackdoodle is interested in sniffing poop, but fortunately does not roll in it.

However, my poodles did. One liked to roll in goose poop, and the other preferred rabbit poop. I think it's pretty common.

Really...its so gross, though!!! DH said it smelled like manure, but there are no cows anywhere near that field, and they don't fertilize. It's a mystery!!!
Worms are another fun one to roll on....GROSS!
When Tara was young she liked to EAT deer, rabbit, cat poos....UGH!  No rolling though. But she likes to roll on dead worms which, smell wise are right up there with poo! LOL! And some of my past dogs liked rolling on dead fish (woo hoo!) rotting seaweed and other lovely things like that! :(  Lola sounds like a normal dog to me!!!
oh, Ricki! I've got nothing on you!! Dead fish....gag!!! That sounds like a fun clean-up!!!

Everyone once in a while Sophie-Bear emerges from the bathroom with a face covered in kitty litter trying to look all innocent with no idea that the evidence of her kitty poo fetish is all over her face. Disgusting. She has never rolled in poop though, thank goodness.

I finally bought a kitty litter box with a cover and door and this has seemed to do the trick, lol.

haha that's so funny. She's probably thinking "Mommy, you have noooooo idea what I just got myself into!!!" Joke's on her, lol!
Murph would roll in anything that smelled bad....and he makes all kinds of funny grunting noises while he's doing it.
ewwwww and LOL at the same time!
We used to live near the woods with a corn field and a cherry orchard on two sides of our property.  We had lots of deer, fox and coyote around and our previous dogs (a boxer and a choc. lab) used to roll in the wild animal poop if we didn't keep a close eye on them.  You said Lola was in a field so I bet that's what it was.  I don't know why they did it though.
Yesterday, I walked Vern and Fudge at a park where they had some kind of horse event the day before. The entire walk I was on high alert because Vern views horse poop as something wonderful to eat. I wish those riders had to pick up their horse poop, like we do our dog poop. Vern rolls in everything, BUT poop...thank goodness.
Laurie, I love the idea of the riders having to stop, dismount, pick up an enormous pile of poop, and then look around for a garbage can for it... Too funny!
