There have been some discussions in the past about tear staining.  You can try to access them by clicking on All Discussions and typing in the key words eye staining or something similar.  I remember some doodle owners mentioning a product called Angel Eyes.  The staining is a genetic trait from the poodle side of your dog.  As for hair out of the eyes join the grooming group. There is lots of information there.  We have our doods groomed by a professional, but many doodle owners do it themselves.  Either way, the group has suggestions.

What Nancy said.

When does she sneeze and swat ... soon after you've sprayed the perfume or hours and hours later?  Dogs do have sensitive noses.

Hairspray, Perfume, Air freshner, anything that gets sprayed in the air my Kona sneezes and rubs her nose on the ground for.  She is my non allergy girl.

Ned sneezes also.

Tear staining is common in any light coloured dog (and cat)

There are 2 kinds of Angel eyes - a natural one and once that contains anitbiotics. i would not suggest giving your dog antibiotics long term. The antibiotic form of Angel Eyes was banned in Canada a year or so ago - so they developed a natural one. There are many different brands that are natural. Buy one that you sprinkle on their food - these work better than the liquid eye cleaners. I cant remember off the top of my head what the natural compound is...

I find that a teeny tiny bit of apple cider vinegar helps with my white cats tear staining. Food can make a huge difference too - feed a good quality grain free food (check out them food group for recommended brands). The best success has been reported from feeding Raw Diet, but that isnt for everyone.

For keeping the fur out of her eyes - check out the grooming group. Pull all head fur up into a "top knot" with your hands and trim what sticks up out of your hand. This will give you an even trim

Oregon grape root is the active ingredient. Look for that in other (often cheaper) products

My old family dog used to get a soy Lecithin gel cap every day for the tear staining.  Basically it would cause the eye "gunk" to clump instead of running, so preventing the staining.  That's what the breeder claimed anyway (and it seemed to work - she didn't get much tear staining).

It's probably not allergies if she's just sneezing and swatting at her nose after strong scents are sprayed in the air. Most dogs would do that since their sense of smell is so much more sensitive than ours and sprays that are strong to us are unbearable to them, especially if tiny droplets from the spray actually land on the dog's nose. They sneeze to rid themselves of the strong smell, same with the "swatting" to get the smell off.

Both of my dogs do this, especially when febreeze or hairspray is sprayed in the air!

I agree with this. There's a big difference between being allergic to something and being sensitive to or bothered by something. Dogs do have very sensitive noses. And an allergic reaction in a dog takes the form of intense itching, not sneezing; it's a histamine response on a cellular level. An allergic reaction also doesn't happen the first time a dog (or a human) is exposed to something.

If these scents bother her, I'd keep them away from her. There really isn't any reason that any dog should have to come into close contact with perfumes or scents, is there?
