We had the bad news over Thanksgiving that Groucho Too has cancer of the liver.  He had a cancerous cyst on his spleen that burst so they did a spleenectomy and had the spleen biopsied.  It was cancer.  They also saw nodes on his liver during the surgery.  So....what to do?  He has the stitches out tomorrow, so we have decided to tell the vet we want plenty of pain medication for him when he starts to be bad and we have decided to have him put down at home.  There is a traveling vet who will come to the home to do this.  There is also a pet crematorium in our little town who pick up corpses and take them for cremation.  We will have him put down at home, cremated, and the ashes buried at home.  We have even picked the area for his final resting spot.  We are ready to lay our beautiful goldendoodle to rest.

My heart goes out to you, Lynda. Its small comfort to have plans in place, but it will mean a great deal when the time is at hand. Anyone who has lost a beloved pet knows this.

This post is heartbreaking, and I am so sorry this is happening. I wish you peace, and comfort for Grocho Too.

I'm so sorry, Lynda. It's the hardest thing in the world, and no matter how many times you go through it, it never gets any easier. Hugs to you, Groucho, and your whole family.

Lynda, my heart is breaking for you and your family. Although it is never time, I believe the procedure of letting go at home is best for our pups and for the family. My Cassie took her last breath in my arms sitting in her favorite chair. Although very sad, Cassie was calm and in her own environment. My prayers are with you all.

As I read this I thought that it was so fitting that you have made these plans to make Groucho Too's passing as peaceful and painless as possible.  You've taken such good care of him since he was a puppy and you've shared so much together...you are a great Doodle Mom.

So sorry that you have to make these plans. But, they sound perfect for giving Groucho Too a peaceful and loving goodbye. It is the best thing we can do for our doggy family members. Love and hugs to you all.

I am so sorry that you even have to have one. Groucho Too is so young. Lynda, this is such a lovely plan and I think it should give you comfort.

Lynda,

My heart goes out to you and your family. So sorry to hear about your buddy Groucho being ill.

Lynda, I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this with your sweet Groucho Too. Hugs to all of you!

I'm so sorry, Lynda. Hugs to all of you.

What a heartbreaking time for you Lynda - I am so sorry!!  I just wanted to tell you that when we knew our Zak had to be put down, we also decided to bury her at home.  We knew the day before that she was going in to be put down, so the night before DH dug the hole where we buried her.  It was devastating for him and he cried the whole time.  I was hysterical!  We buried her at the end of our property, under a huge pine tree with her favourite stuffy.  On top, we have a beautiful black heart-rock as her tombstone, resting against her doggie dish and a huge lawn toy she loved playing with.  She died in September and the first winter was really hard to look at the place where we buried her but now I smile every time I go by, either walking or with the lawnmower.  I smile and say "Hi Zak!"  We are so glad that she is buried in our yard where she loved to play and it does bring comfort now!  I honestly believe that she is there, watching over Myla and guiding her!  I know this is the most awful thing to go through but I am so glad that you have decided to let her spend her final days and final hours at the home where she has been loved!  I am thinking of you with hugs and tears!!!!

You are so very strong, and an amazing doodle mom to have made a plan plans. Groucho will have the best of the best, to make his coming days comfortable, pain free. He'll feel nothing but your complete love, and devotion to him.

I'm sorry there isn't something for your pain at this time. Just know that many are thinking of you, and sending you warmth, compassion, and love in the effort to try and help you heal when the time comes.

Hugs to you, and your family.
