Our doodle, Grizzly, had his first grooming appointment a few days ago. They do puppy sessions at our groomer which entails a bath and blow dry, massage, face/feet trim, and nail clips. They work really slowly to get them accustomed to the groomer (took about 4 hours). He did super well and the groomers were impressed on how calm he was with the dryer and having his feet handled.
Here are some photos of him after. He is 14 weeks old in these photos and his color is changing rapidly. While he looks mostly black to the eye, outside in photos he looks brown. He was sold to us as a black brindle, but I'm thinking he is more sable-y though its hard to tell with long hair. He is turning silver FAST and his legs are showing almost completely silver underneath. Basically, his entire undercoat is a silver-creamy color now. I'm so excited to see how he turns out. Besides some puppy mouthing issues still lingering and an independent streak that allows him to have selective hearing, he is one of the best dogs I've ever known. He is such a good boy!
He is still a little small for what we expected him to be (both parents were around 50 lbs). He was only 7 lbs at 9 weeks, but has grown to 17 by today at 14.5 weeks. He had some kind of food intolerance to the food he came with (along with a bloated stomach and diarrhea) and after switching him to blue buffalo he has grown like a weed and stayed a healthy weight. Anyone had a doodle around this weight that turned out bigger than expected? At least the standard multiply by 2 at 16 weeks and add 5-10 seems to put him in the 40-45 lb range. The original weight suggestions a few weeks ago put him at 30.
What his coat and color look like normally, laying with his Chihuahua/Poodle sister.

He's adorable and it's great to get him used to being handled and the sounds and experiences of being at the groomer.
Looks a great deal like Ann's Sheba. Do a search under the Members tab for Ann Kendig. She has a bunch of pics of Sheba from when he was a puppy. Regardless, coloring is stunning. Don't think he will be huge, but will be a nice size doodle. Best of luck. Look forward to many more pictures and seeing how he turns out.
Hi Erica ! Hanna was 8 lbs at 9 weeks, and 17 lbs at 14 weeks. Now at 4 years old she stays right around 60 lbs, give or take a couple. I see we are "neighbors" --- I live in Loveland and work in Fort Collins! Grizzly is sure adorable-love his coloring!
Hanna & I did the 5k run, but did not stay for the parade---I did hear from a friend that went to the parade that there were a lot of dogs (and Doodles) there!
Grizzly looks very cute and clean after his 1st groom. What a sweet face - it says "I am a very good boy!". Beau weighed about the same as Grizzly at this age and at 2 years he is now 46 lbs. It will be fun for you to see how he matures. Keep us posted!
