This kind of feels like a silly question, but I keep hearing about fleece and wool coats.  As a new doodle owner, I'm not sure what type of coat my 12 week old, Macie, has.  How can you tell the difference?  At this point Macie's fur feels very soft and cottony.  Its wavy, too.  What do you think?  Thanks for the clarification!

Good advice Nicky!! I groom a big doodle with a cottony coat and not only is his dad a very poor brusher (I doubt he ever uses a comb) but he takes the doodle in the shower with him to get him clean and his mats become like big balls of cement! He LOVES it when the dog is longer and it is impossible to have him that way if he comes to ma as a mass of mats--wish he was more like YOU!!

Mine had a wavy fleece coat as a young pup but it turned into a pretty tight wool coat as she got older. I do miss the fleece, :(

Jasmine has a fleece coat, does not shed and looks similar to your pup. Enjoy your new bundle of fur! The top pic is of her grown with summer cut.
