Gail, this brought tears to my eyes as my Gus will turn 14 in August!
Aw, that is sweet.
Brought tears to my eyes. I miss my old soul Butter who passed 1 1/2 years ago at age 16 & 1/2.
I appreciated the every moment he gave us and love he gave us eventhough he ached and could not do much anymore....
16 and 1/2! Wow that is incredible! My senior is 10 and seems to be aging pretty rapidly. I pray I can enjoy 6 more years with her. Unfortunately, Riley has had a few medical scares and that's always in the back of my mind making me think it might take a few years off her life.
In his last few years, he really became like senior citizen and developed many medical issues. ( No major stuff, but the minor issue lasted longer than it should ) He had arthritis, and he suffered.... He was a Chow Chow, and very stoic, he did not show his pain, and delt with it....He had difficulty going to the bathroom, ( muscle was weak, I guess ) but no one complained. We still appreciated him, and took care of him.... We got Charlie when he was 12 thinking that he may not have much longer, and we were so afraid for ourselves for the day to come..., but he kept strong for 4 more years after that. Good luck with Riley... Enjoy your baby.....
I can't believe Butter has been gone over a year! He was an amazing guy with such a strong will to live, and he loved you so much, Kyoko.
So sweet!
You can be so glad if you have that many years with your beloved pet. Enjoy them all.
Every day I say a prayer of thanks for another day!
Gail, thank you for sharing this.
