Halas had his heffalumps (lipomas) removed this morning.  I got to pick him up about an hour ago.  Here are some photos.  They are a little gross.  Between the two of us, we have cornered the market on stitches over the last week.  And we both get our stitches removed on the same day.

This is his right hip.

Left side just in front of the hip.

A couple of attempts at a photo of the one on the right side of his groin area.

And a final one of Halas in his cone of shame.  He doesn't really like to move much at all with it on.  When we got home, I took him to the field behind our condo for a short walk.  Once we got to the grass, he just sat down and wouldn't budge.  It took a few minutes to convince him to walk back in his cone.  This picture kind of shows how he feels about the cone.

Poor baby. That incision on his R hindquarters is big. But before you know it all will be covered in doodle hair.
And since he was shaved last weekend, it can all grow back at the same time!

Poor little man!  Don't worry, those are all areas that won't show scarring at all!

Poor you for having stitches too!

I hope you're both feeling better soon.

He looks so sad!!!  I'm glad you got it all done - I was hoping that would be your decision!  Give him doodle kisses from me!!!

Poor Halas! I hope he heals quickly and feels better soon.

Oh no poor guy! Those look intense. Hoping both of you heal speedily!

Aww, poor baby. Those incisions look huge to me! Hope he heals fast (and so do you). Hugs to both of you.

Oh that poor baby !! Ouch, ouch, ouch and the cone of shame too.... terrible ! You will heal quickly Halas, so be patient.

The one on his right hip didn't stick out very far, but it covered a lot of area. That's the one with the biggest incision.
He was shivering a little, so I wrapped him in a blanket on the couch. This has the added benefit of keeping him from trying to get at his stitches while I give him a break from the cone. I had grilled salmon and steamed asparagus for dinner, and those are his favorites. I sat on the couch to eat, and he laid behind me, wrapped in his blanket, whining pathetically to try to get some of my food. But did I fall for it?! Yes. Yes I did. But just a tiny bit, so he doesn't get an upset tummy.

JD says " Phooey on the asparagus, but the salmon is good medicine!"

Karen, I would think JD would love asparagus. It makes that funky smelling pee after, and what dog wouldn't love that !! LOL

I would do whatever for the poor baby. I bet the dinner helped him feel better. They can be such drama queens, LOL, and we all fall for it.
