Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi Everyone,
I have a client and friend that lost her dog this week very unexpectedly when he got sick at a boarding facility... he passed away while undergoing surgery. She is heartbroken and is not taking this well at all. I would like to be able to send her something to make her feel a bit better. Do any of you have experience with this? Do you have any gift recommendations or ideas? I feel helpless and would love to be able to help somehow.
Thanks!

Argh! I lost my post!
When Gordie recently passed away, I made a slide show of some of his pictures. People posted responses which comforted me. Several sent cards which I love. Jolene (Sassy and Josie) printed some of the pictures from the slide show and made me a scrapbook which I treasure. I already had a special charm but have worn it almost exclusively in Gordie's honor. This also comforts me.
This is not a permanent keepsake but it is nice and thoughtful. 1800flowers.com has bouquets of flowers with a Doodle in the middle. Sorry, you didn't say whether the dog is a doodle or not. It is cute though and doesn't have to be used as a Doodle. You can also search "adogable bouquets". They have several different options. Im sorry your friend has to go thru this.
I just looked at the sight and they have one called "All dogs go to heaven" The flower dog has a halo.
When we lost our Sophie (and even while she was sick) I was amazed at the outpouring of love and support that she received. We received many cards and gifts during and after. They were all so special and still have special places in our home where we remember her each time we walk by them. While she was sick she received a basket of toys from one of the nursing homes she visited. After she passed away one of her special friends here on DK sent a blanket with many of our favorite pictures on it. Another DK friend gave us a Willow Tree Angel of Friendship (the angel has a puppy). The little girls next door brought toys for Lucy after Sophie passed away and one of the Nursing homes also remembered Sophie in their annual memorial service. They had a small plant, just in a little dixie cup. They wrote Sophies name on a piece of rice paper. They put the rice paper in a little cup of water where it dissolved and then they poured the water onto the plant. This plant is very special to us. It is the only plant in our home. I think that it isn't really important what you do, it is the act of showing that you care is what is important.
