Has anyone had a dog that experienced lethargy after getting an application of the flea med?
Ginger has been sleeping yesterday afternoon and again this morning. She ate ok but not her spunky self.
She is 24 pounds, so she moved up to the larger dose and I wonder if this has anything to do with it?
Should I wash it off?
Thanks,

Cubbie used to get like that when we used First Shield on him but the vet said that sometimes the chemicals give them a creepy crawly sort of feeling that freaks them out and makes them lay around. I didn't like that so we switched to Frontline Plus which uses a different chemical as the main ingredient. Is this the first time she has this reaction and how many times have you used this same product on her?
Pam, I'm sorry Ginger had a reaction to the meds. I have seen other DKers post about their doodles having reactions to various spot on flea and tick treatments. Some have ended up switching brands. Does the label say anything about reactions and how to manage them? I suppose the longer it is on the more difficult it will be to wash off...sorry I don't know much about these products but I do know that in reality it is a pesticide that you are introducing into your dog's system so it makes sense that it could cause lethargy especially with the increased dose. How is she doing now?
She is a little better now, happy to see her "boy" when he got home from school!
She is doing a little better now. Ginger was very happy to see her "boy" after school!
Good, hope she's past it and is ok.
I'm glad to hear that she is improving! :) I would still consider going back to the lower dose next time.
What is the brand name of the product?
Pet Armor Plus
If the product you used was Pet Armor, it's made in India. I don't know if that's significant or not in terms of the quality control. Frontline is made by Merial in France.
interesting yes Pet Armor Plus
Personally, I wouldn't use any Walmart pet product. I know there's a savings, but the sourcing is always from Asia, and the quality control is just too risky to be worth it.
I agree with this Pam. Quality control is very important with this type of product or anything we put on or in our doodles! :)
