Hi everyone!
I have a 70lb, 2 Yr old Black Goldendoodle that if I sent to the groomer I would be broke( he has an incredibly dense coat and during the summer I shave him down with a 1/4in comb every 6weeks)
I was wondering how many people groom their own Doodle? and if so how many of you have ever gotten creative with your dogs cut?
I for one have had a Black Rhodesian Ridgedoodle for a period of time and currently have Charlie shaved with what I like to call the "Inverted Skunk" or Double Mohawk.. Now granted I totally shave it off after a week..
You do a great job! Why not get a little creative? There are no standards for the cuts for doodles, so do what you like. We have always groomed our doodles and they have never been boarded or to a groomer. It takes a total of five hours to give Groucho Too a total groom, but we break it up over several days (for us, not him). He is fine with standing as long as we like. He loves to be groomed and figures it is all one-on-one time.
I plan to have Camo and Curly's hair grow a bit longer now since it's getting chilly each day. I also plan to just trim their beards with a electric trimmer myslef this weekend. one funny thing about my two doodles is that they actually like people to "work" their facial hair. They seemed to enjoy it when getting pampered at the groomer.
