I finally am getting my first piece of brand new furniture. It is a sofa. I had to get rid of all the fabric in my house because upon pulling up my carpet we found huge holes in the foundation.. Long story short to prevent mold or damage most of my fabric stuff had to go... Who cares I have beautiful safe floors in now.

I was blessed with a gift of a new sofa... It will be the only furniture I have in my living room for a while but it is nice.and I WANT to keep it nice. I need to know what you all use to cover your sofa's with, mine is fake leather and fabric.... the fake leather is on the arms of the sofa and on the very top and back of the sofa. Jack Loves to lay on the arms of the sofa.

Molly does too and she is much rougher on furniture then Jack. I need something that will stay in place when I sit on it that also has a longer arm cover so it doesn't flop off.

any suggestions??  I will take pictures of my house before and after once I am settled.

My current sofa "cover" is a microfiber blanket fron Costco. It is a very upscale looking/feeling rag :-)

was it specifically for a sofa cover purpose or are you using it for that?

No not specific at all. But the ones I tried and brought back that were specific din't really cover all of the sofa and looked as bad : ). The Orvis covers are very expensive and I haven't tried them.

I have the same one F. Works great and stays on well without sliding around during most of the Zoomies.

so it is a microfiber blanket? I am going to have to look into that. That is going to have to work for now. The main thing is protection for now.

THE SOFA arrives tomorrow..I am so excited and at the same time I don't want them to unwrap it so nothing happens to it.. THat is no way to live... LOL got to enjoy it while you can.. Jack is still at my mom's because the house won't be officially ready for me to live in safely with the air quality and stuff until next week.  

Thanks for your help, what an amazing feeling to have to be concerned about a sofa cover and not something serious... so grateful for that.

The Orvis furniture covers are pricey, but the quality is very good and they get great reviews from other customers. The reviews are important to me on this kind of thing.

OMD the one you showed me that exact link is what I was looking for.... It actually matches the fabric on my sofa but that will have to wait until I can afford that. THank you for showing me at least I know what I have available and I will look into it.... what a great website

That is the thing I am looking for is good reviews, I saw one I really liked from Sure Fit... but it had terrible reviews and never stayed in place.  I am going to look into this and see about getting one.... Thanks.

I wonder if the "gripper" side would cause scratches in the non material side though..

I had a Surefit sofa cover for an old sofa in my basement rec room, and it had to be adjusted daily. And dogs were not the problem; at that time, the room was used exclusively by my toddler grandson. Maybe they are made better now, but I used to call it "Sure Doesn't Fit", lol.

That is almost word for word what the reviews said..looks nice can't sit on iit without moving..that would make me crazy since I am OCD clean

We keep our sofas covered with blankets, either one big one that covers seats and the back or one for the back and one for the seats. We've done that for years and just wash them pretty often. It has saved our light covered sofa and kept it nice and new looking.

I guess the thing is trying to find a balance, my house is small but I LOVE IT but I have a very open floor plan except for the office and bedrooms so as soon as you open my front door you can see my sofa.... I was hoping for a look that didn't "look" like a cover was on it but one that went with the seat...... 

you know how it is when you finally get something new.. this is my first new sofa ever and the only piece of furniture in my living room for now and I want people to see it but want it protected too maybe I am asking too much.. ..lol
