I understand and would feel the same way, but I haven't noticed anyone taking photos. My husband takes photos of other dogs and doesn't ask. Maybe I should suggest that he should!
When we are out and about with Jaxson, often people want to take pictures of him but, most often, they ask first. Yes, it is a little weird but since they mostly ask, it doesn't really bother me. What is amusing is the amount of attention he receives. Sometimes it's like being with a movie star!
Picco gets lots of attention wherever we go. We take him down to see a parade (small town) and people on the floats call out to say he's beautiful! I feel I'm going to have to get him is own float.
LOL
We do not do dog parks, but I have had others take a photo of Charlie & Beau when we are out walking on the river walk, or once when we were sitting in the car at a stop light and they were looking out the windows. It really does not bother me.
I can see where it would be a little awkward if they didn't ask first. But, I can tell that you are a very private person since your DK page is entirely private as well! :-) I was hoping to get a closer look at your beautiful boy....I just wanted to gawk a little. :-)
Oh my...I looked at your page and your Winnie is adorable! What a cutie...and such a gorgeous color. Maybe some folks keep their posts private so people don't copy the photos that we put online...just guessing. Personally, I love looking at pictures of cute doodles. That's why we run the slideshow every two weeks with fun themes, so folks can share the "loves" of their lives and show them off. So keep those slideshow submissions comin'! I will be looking for pictures of Winnie :)
I most definitely would take pictures of any dog in a dog park I thought was cute. I almost always delete them because I have no need for them, but I like taking pics, especially of dogs in action. I would never think to track a dog's owner down and ask. There you have it from the other side.
What I do find odd is tourists who ask to pose with my dog shove their cell or camera in my hands and ask me to take the picture. It truly is hilarious, yet I am flattered at the same time.
Being a photographer, It doesn't really bother me if someone takes a picture of Finn. Usually I find out it's someone thinking of getting a doodle. I've never given it a second thought. I take my camera to the park or the lake where we walk and if I see an image of a dog and his/her owner that I want to shoot, I ask first. But if it's an action shot, like the dog playing in the lake or two dogs playing together I usually don't. I would miss the shot. It depends on the situation. It's the digital age and a public place. I would not photograph individual children though without permission.
