How the Doodle do you get chewing gum out of the webbing in a paw pad?

Why do people just spit gum on the ground?  Weren't we taught to wrap up gum in paper?  Is it  me or is there more gum everywhere, especially on the ground?  Or do I work with to many young people?  Is there more litter?  Oh Pooey.  Stop.............

Let me just stop the complaining and ask anyone if they have a suggestion about this gum stuck in a doodle paw.  I believe I have most of the pebbles and debris that became stuck to the gum but I still have a long to go.   Poor Limping Dood.    Any ideas?

Try some cooking oil Joanne. That's what my mom used to use to get it out of my long hair when I was a disobedient young girl and went to bed with gum in my mouth.
You Did? Oh my. I never did that...ever.
Hi Joanne! The first thing to remember here is that sugarless gum can be toxic! So immediate action required. Do searches on google, here is a directions I found on ehow:

#1Gently massage a small amount of oil into the paw of your dogs foot where the gum is. You can pretty much use any oil, vegetable, olive, corn, whatever you have available.

#2After you massage it in well, it should become loss and come right off. if it does not apply a little more oil and try again.

#3Then rub your dogs paw with a damp cloth to remove the excess oil so it does not end up all over your house, and on your furniture making new messes!

#4This can also work for cats. So if you notice you cat has gum on his/her paw then follow the same directions.

Good Luck!!
OH geesh. An internet search :) I really think I am overwhelmed with him having trouble walking and I did not even think to just search the net..... but I did think to come here with all my friends who are in invaluable resource.

Sugar-Free gum and its dangers did not even cross my mind until now! Thanks for the reminder.
Put peanut butter on it and massage it in then clean. I know it sounds strange but I was being silly once and spit a piece of gum at my daughter and it landed in her hair. It got stuck there and we were in a shopping center. Someone told us to do that. I think I also heard that Mayo works. There is always the Goof Off or Goo Gone but it is sort of strong smelling and I worry about it on their skin or licking. I know they won't mind licking the P-Butter!
I was going to say Peanut Butter as well, and thought that doodle will lick it off before it can work the gum out!! LOL!!!
Nancie - I'm cracking up at the image in my head...of you spitting gum at your daughter....um sounds like a funny shopping trip!!!!
Yeah Nancie, no wonder no one will deliver to your door a doodle calender. You might spit gum on them! Gee Wiz, can you blame them?
Seems like you got good suggestions, hope it's all solved.
Joanne, I remember my mom used to use ice to harden the gum, and then it would come off easy, like kind of snap off, don't know if this will help, just a thought.
Cheryl, that was my first thought however he will NOT permit me to hold ice to his paw for some reason Grrrrrrrrowl
I had to take some little embroidery scissors in and snip it out from under Neelys toe webbing. It happens alot to us around the ball diamonds! I hate it! It is worse than burrs. Especially as people do this to them not to mention the little kids that have it end up on them as well. I would love to put up a sign saying no spitting out your gum!
