Goldendoodle or Labradoodle?

I have a mini goldendoodle Bexter who is still young (11 weeks old), but I already know that I want another dog, probably a girl, to keep him company.  I am going to concentrate on him for a while (at least a year), but as you all know, many of the good breeders have very long waiting lists, so I wanted to make sure what I want.  I am leaning towards the same breeder & maybe even the same parents as Bexter.  However, I see lots of cute labradoodles too! 

What is the difference between goldendoodles & labradoodles (in terms of looks & temperament)?  Do any of you have one of each to compare?  Or are they very similar & so it doesn't matter?

Well my goldendoodle is certainly the life of the party.  Completely nutty at times.  She's crazy.

The description of Labradoodles he gives matches exactly my Goldendoodle puppy. I have never seen this before in other dogs. Camus never comes immediately when we call him, he watches, thinks and then slowly walks toward us. He never cries when we leave him alone. He is happy when we come but without loosing his dignity. Comes out for a walk always behind me, not in front. All these things surprise me a lot. The same with commands. He does them but doesn't seem to be too eager to please. 

What others said about food motivation fits very well. Camus doesn't seem to be  food motivated. I know he is hungry but he doesn't seem to work hard in order to earn the treat.

Traci, As far as looks, we have many doodles on here that look like twins and one will be a Goldendoodle and one will be a Labradoodle. Take for example, my Fudge and Daisy (of Daisy and mom Lisa). They look very similar in some photos and yet Fudge is a Labradoodle and Daisy is a Goldendoodle. I would be happy with either!!

Well, it seems I have sparked a little spirited debate here!  You all are making me laugh.  It sounds like either one would be a great choice for my family and Bexter!  It is really hard for me to try something different when I love Bex so much.  I'll probably stick with my original idea to get a sister (or brother if temperament is issue) from his same parents, so he'll have a full sibling!  That is very exciting to me!  I kind of wanted two doods with different colors, but probably his sibling will look like a mini-Bexter since those 2 parents' pups always look pretty much the same.  That's okay with me...I'll stick with my teddy bear, adorable, fluffy, hopefully soft & nonshedding groom-requiring LOVE loving goldendoodle.  And yes - like a true goldendoodle owner - I am bragging!

I have had them all - labradoodle, goldendoodle and ALD.  The labradoodle was my all-time favorite dog, but he was larger, independent, and less loving than the goldendoodle.  The goldendoodle is pure LOVE and always wants to be petted and scratched by anyone who is available.  The goldendoodle has a longer coat.  Surprisingly enough, the goldendoodle is the one who fights.  The labradoodle was never in a fight in his life.  If another dog got aggressive, he just laid down.  He would play fight, but never the real thing, and the play fighting was only with his own family.  He would play linebacker for the goldendoodle if anyone tried to jump on him.  We called him the gentle giant.  The ALD is fiestier and has curlier hair, but so very soft.  He will be my therapy dog if we can get through training.  Right now he is starting agility.  They are all different but also all wonderful.
