Goldendoodle shedding

My 11 month old Goldendoodle, Manny recently started shedding like CRAZY!! He used to shed a tiny bit here and there, but within the last few weeks it is non-stop. It looks almost like puppy hair but I though he had already shed all of that. We brush him daily, every-other day at the very least with a slicker brush and we have to empty it 3 or 4 times per brushing. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so does it stop? I spoke to a few people who own goldendoodles at his daycare and they said they have heard of goldendoodles "blowing their coat" to a degree. Thanks!!

Neely went through a bit of this not long ago. I think is was caused alot by the humidity level in our house. It was low and even would electrify his hair when we petted him. He was matting more than ever as well. I really believe it was the humidity level. Also it depends on his activity level as well. He really doesn't shed much at all usually but if he's been to the dog park or had his friends over we get fur fluffs around the floor. When they play they bite and pull hair and wrestle and get their  claws dragging through the coats as well.

After brushing we would wet him down with a cloth as well.

My carlos is going through the same thing right now! he is 75% retriever and only 25% poodle so I expected some shedding. At 4 months he blew out most of his puppy coat.....so I thought. Now last week he turned 8 months and that day he began shedding like crazy!!! hair everywhere!! it seems to be the fur underneath his top coat coming off and he almost feels like he is softer now where as before his top coat was more coarse feeling. I hope this is just a coat change and isn't going to continue indefinatly! keep me updated on how your doodle is doing.

 

Glad to have someone else going through the same thing! hopefully this dreadful shedding will stop soon. :)
