I am new Doodle owner and was wondering what type of brush works best on them.  What are your recommendations?

I think that everyone will agree on this one--get a Les Pooches brush from the online store of a fellow DK member--Kemp at www.doodlecountry.com. He will help you make the proper selection as they come in many sizes and styles.

They are expensive, but you will only need one for the life of the dog--they are very well made and flex to make the job easier. You also need a steel comb with wider teeth at one end--you MUST comb through the coat to the skin after brushing to get the mats out--brushing the surface is not enough and lots of people have found that out the hard way when their little pooch had to be shaved. The combs can be purchased anywhere--and should not cost more than $15.

Thanks for the information.  I will go and check this out.

Ginny is right in recommending the LesPouchs and Kemp for doodles who have more difficult coats.  If yours sheds lots or has a thinner, sparser coat, you may not need the 'best.'  One of my doodles coats would not survive without the LesPouchs, and while my other two dogs could have cheaper brushes used on them, I find that the LesPouchs does a nice job on them and I prefer it.

I ordered one!  Thanks for the advice.
