Dublin is getting groomed next week and I'd like to bring a picture along to show the groomer since the last few times he's come back looking more like a poodle. Any thoughts?
Not sure what you are looking for, but here is a picture of Quincy after his last grooming. At first I thought he was too short but I quickly got used to it and he was so soft. The bonus was I didn't have to really brush him for weeks. I guess he was about 1-1 1/2 ins long. Hope this helps.

I would say to go to someone who has a decent amount of experience with different breeds. I have several groomer friends and they have told me that places like Petco often have less experienced groomers that have done mostly shave downs. It isn't always the case. However, these places are often starting points for groomers to get their foot in the door of grooming.
If you like the longer shaggy look - I would say an Old English Sheepdog is quite similiar. You got some great suggestions already. In general I keep Max on the longer side, closer to 3 inches because he is a mini LD, I prefer his ears cut short. You can google images of labradoodles and bring the groomer a copy of the picture.
