When Fudge was groomed a couple of weeks ago, the groomer pointed out a small growth in Fudge's ear. It was small and looked like a skin tag. I didn't think anything about it at the time. Well, today her ear flapped back and I was shocked to see the tiny growth has more than doubled in size and I immediately called the vet. She has an appointment Wednesday. The growth looks like cauliflower and I have been online tonight and it looks like it might be called a sebaceous adenoma. What concerns me is that it says rapid growth could indicate something serious like cancer. I will try and post a picture tomorrow. Has anyone heard of this or has their dog had one of these growths?

UPDATE: We went to the vet tonight and she said the growth has to be removed surgically on Friday. She said most of the time these things are benign, but she has been wrong in the past, so she will not know until the biopsy is done. Thank you again for all of your concern. We all really appreciate all the kind words.

SECOND UPDATE: Fudge went in this morning for her surgery. She did great. They were able to just give her light anesthesia, but she is still acting punch drunk and is very tired. We will not have the results of the biopsy for about two weeks. On a side note, Vern drove with me to drop Fudge off and when I came back to the car, he was howling like a baby. When we picked her up, he was so happy to see his Fudge and was very gentle and loving.  He checked her out with his sniffer and made sure she was ok. Very sweet.

I hope Fudge is okay, and keep us updated.

Hi Laurie, I know everything is probably fine but just stopping by just in case I missed something. I will check again later.

Lisa

Thank you so much for checking. I posted an update and more in my reply to Donna. It is very nice to see the concern everyone has for our wonderful dog. Thank you!!!
We hope everything works out with Fudge...pawsitive thoughts your way.
Any news on Fudge? Hope everything is well.
Donna, I just posted an update. I am not sure what the best way to do that is, but I just added it above to my discussion. Anyway, she has to have surgery on Friday to remove the growth and we will have to wait to see what the biopsy says. The vet was very positive, so we are too. Fudge was not very good about letting her look in her ears, so I can see we have some work to do in that area.  At one point, she was on her hind legs backed up against the wall. Vern peed (scared) on our recent visit, so I am sure I have impressed everyone with my dog training abilities :) I really do appreciate everyone taking the time to check on Fudge. We are going to stay positive until we hear otherwise. Thanks!!
Thanks for the update, these doodles have been on my mind all day. Thinking good thoughts that everything will be fine.
Thanks for the update Laurie...and a bit of hopeful news right?! I have been saying a prayer for Fudge specially since Monday night and will keep on doing so until all good news is upon us (and then some). hugs form Lisa

Fudge if I were closer I would give you a big smooch on your big brown nose love and doodle kisses (and maybe a sniff or two) from Daisy .

Lisa, I almost cried when I read this post :) Thanks for the prayers and keep them coming :) I will give Fudge that hug and tell her it is from Daisy. I will pass on the sniff. Laurie
Sounds like you got to it fairly quickly so hopefully all will be well.  It's just so hard when things happen to our beloved furry companions. I hope you get good news!!  Keep us posted.
Good luck with the surgery and with the diagnosis.
I am voting for a wart!  A benign wart.  Please let us know as you as you can.  Thinking about you Fudge.
