Rosco seemed fine once he got there according to Clark, but he freaked me out in the past hour. He was acting like he was either going to barf or scoot his butt, but it was neither. Although I couldn't see anything weird going on in his belly it was like there was a heavy weight somewhere low in his abdomen and he couldn't stand up. I immediately feared bloat. I kept calling his name, panicked. Then he got up but his legs weren't quite on board and he only managed to turn around and walk a few steps...and he ended up on laying down on his belly again...eyes made him look zoned and drooled a bit. Tail continued to wag though...super odd. By the time Clark emptied out the back of his Volvo, he got up and looked ready to go outside on his own, but Clark picked him up and rushed him to the vet. Apparently he was back to normal by then but they are observing him.
At first I thought bloat but his zoned look toward the end sounded seizure like...but neither fit what I'd imagine them to look like. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
Send some prayers his way! Hoping it was a weird nothing.
Okay just heard from the vet before I hit the button to post. She said that everything checked out fine and the only thing the blood work showed was that his electrolytes were off...as though he'd recently been barfing. He had eaten lunch in the past hour but I have no idea if he may have thrown up outside..he seemed fine when I'd called him in not long before the episode. So she wants to watch him more and give him some anti nausea meds to keep him from throwing up more and messing up his electrolytes further. Thanks for thinking of Rosco!

True if it is something physically stuck in there. I was thinking more along the lines of something poisonous or at least somewhat toxic.
I think there are toxic substances that can cause issues that don't show up immediately. Things that work on the liver, circulatory system, or other body systems but don't immediately make the dog sick. One example (which doesn't apply here, thank God) would be Hines body anemia caused by eating onions.
It is very strange Adina. Keep a close eye on Rosco when he gets home.
I hope Rosco is ok!!!! Poor guy!
Zoe & Ben sends their love! Glad Rosco is ok and hope he continues to be ok
Good for you and your good eye, electrolytes being off can make you feel like poop too. Hope all settles down and all is well..
Sending positive thoughts for Rosco.
Could also have been a slight seizure and he couldn't get himself moving because his legs wouldn't move--I have no idea though really and I am hoping he feels good soon...
Oh Rosco... do not scare your mom like that ever again! Be well, big boy. We all love you.
Prayers that this is a false alarm.
Any news here or not until morning? Is he home or still at the vet?
