Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Three years ago this morning, I got an email saying that my application to adopt this incredible little puppy was approved! I flew from NJ to Detroit (TG for Continental miles!), rented a car and drove another hour to Western Ohio to meet her. It was love at first sight!!!
Charli was born in an Amish Puppy Mill. The said she was 'defective' because she was born with an umbilical cord hernia and PetLand wouldn't accept her 'defective' puppies for a pet store. Instead of killing her (which most puppy mills would have done since they can't get their money) shockingly she was surrendered to a rescue in Ohio, Animal Rescue House.
I was told that she was 9.5 weeks old when we met. She had already been spayed and the hernia had been repair. I think she was 3-4 weeks younger. She is now 28" tall to her shoulder. This picture was taken when she had been living with us a week. She was able to lie on the center console of my daughter's Pathfinder. She was tiny!
She might have gotten taller but she never filled out - lucky her!
Here she is a couple of months ago at the vet. She decided no how was the mean vet tech coming anywhere near her tush with that thing!! She really is a character. She has an incredible way of making us giggle all the time.
There is an very strong bond with her sister, Samantha. They are always touching when they sleep - on my bed, of course.
She loves her Doodle Nephew, Mickey.
Charli shares Moo with her best friend, Daisy aka Tootie.
There is such love between these doodles that they will sit patiently for their turn at whatever treat is being offered. From left to right is Daisy aka Tootie (Jeannie's doodle), Charli, Samantha, Sully (Jeannine's big guy) and the little chocolate is Jacquie's Bella. Jacquie's Blake aka Budge decided he preferred to play ball then sit for this family portrait. These 6 doodles spend lots of time together that they truly are a pack.
I have been blessed to have been allowed to have this little girl in my life.

Happy Adoptiversary! The pictures are great....Charli surely "lucked out" when she became part of this "forever family".
OMD - she is a real BEAUTY!!!!! And she sure hit the jackpot getting YOU - happy Adoptiversary to you both!!!
Happy Gotcha Day sweet Charli.....
If I ever get my back up done on my new laptop (needed one since I stepped on the screen of my other one) I will post the pictures of the day you schlepped Roger and Spud to Pittsburgh to meet us! Charli was the size of your forearm! That day will forever be one of my most memorable! Including the contest of who had the most poop!
Charli is just gorgeous and SHE is soooo lucky to have you as her mommy. Lucy doesn't like the vet or anyone to touch her bum either. I always ask them to take the temp last. Hahahaha, doodles are soooo funny. No wonder we love them so much. Hope we can get together again for a romp.
It has been too long since that great romp! Marissa, Seamus and Mickey (he is already here) are moving back to NJ. In fact, for awhile, they are living with us. 5 humans, 3 doodles and a cat!
Enjoy the celebration! Charli is so beautiful! Thank you for posting this wonderful family story of love.
Happy Charli day to you Adrienne and your beautiful Charli. Kathy and I met you in Montclair at the craft show two years ago. Thanks to you, we then joined DK and have learned sooooo much! Kathy and I often remark about how well behaved Charli and Samantha were when we met you in the front of William and Sonoma. We are still working on Sydney's and Olivia's behavior. We think their owners (we) need more of the training. A BIG CONGRATS TO YOU AND THE DAY THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE (AND CHARLI'S LIFE TOO)!!
when are we going to meet again?? You will then see just how much 2 well behaved doodles have changed - WOL!
Happy Day, Charli. Charli is very lucky to have found you and her pack. You are providing the most wonderful life for this little rescue. You, like the rest of us doodle owners are blessed to be loved by one or more doodles. Lucky us!
Thanks Nancy!!!
