Can I just say it? "NOOOO!!"
This is Harley's 3rd round of meds in the 3 months we've had him, so I guess we didn't get everything back in June when he tested positive.
<Sigh>
At least this time, he's on Panacur.
I've washed his bedding and his toys. Sprayed down his crate and his water bowl tray and holder.
I'm now wiping things down with clorox wipes until I can mop everything with a clorox solution.
I told my hubby about the advice here about wiping down Harley's paws and butt...no sure he'll do that. (some sort of man-thing, perhaps.)
Well, I guess I didn't =really= want a restful weekend. LOL!

Yes my last dose at the vet was about $60 I think, can't remember. $30 is much better. Thanks for this info. I will be sure to always have some on hand from now on. Just got to figure out the dosage as it says 3 day dose, 4g for 40pd dog. Bella is 60 pds. How did you figure the dose?
It comes in 4 grams, 2 grams and 1 gram doses.
Basically it is 1 gram per 10 lbs of dog. Harley is at just about 40 lbs. The vet gave him 6-4 gram packets.
I bought a box of the 4 grams but also a box of the 1 gram dosage since he is still growing.

Thanks so much Terri. I have researched and it does appear to be 10 pds per gram. The packages also say 3 day dose, but I have always given for 6-7 days, so I am going to go with the Vets recommendation on that. Maybe if I buy extra for the next time, there won't be a next time.....one can only hope.

Yup. They gave me a 6 day dose for Harley. I would probably follow that protocol. For an update, he =must= be feeling better because his energy level and appetite have increased big time.
This AM, I sprayed myself down with bug repellent, donned plastic gloves, suited up with plastic bags and my clorox solution and did yard duty.
I know that I missed one or two, but the majority of it is done.
Tonight I have a meeting with the pet sitter who is very knowledgable. I know she will follow my instructions on wiping feet and butt.
I may =not= have to take a Valium tonight! Yay! ;)
Terri
I will get Panacur from my vet in the am as I dont want to wait for the 2 day shipping even with Amazon Prime. They give me it in a solution and she gets 14ml per day for a week. I will order from Amazon and keep it on hand though.
I bet you were a sight in the back yard. Wonder what the neighbors thought was going on? Glad he's feeling better.. Bella hasn't skipped a beat and if we never saw her poop we'd never know she had anything. But it's just been a few days of consistant pudding poops.
Well I don't have any valium and I don't drink, so I guess I better just keep laughing!!
Jarka, Thank you sooo much for this information. I really didn't know it was available and I've just found out that my vet charges a 100% markup! from Amazon!! And you know they probably get it cheaper than that!
Grrr...
Terri
We are dealing with this in our new puppy, as well. We have six dogs and he is the only one that has it. We treated it once already but are about to treat again as he just tested positive for a second time. I'm going to ask for Panacur this time.
That's definitely what I would do, V.
