Heartdogs - Is yours a doodle?

A "Heartdog" is that one dog that lives in your heart forever. It can be any breed, any time in your life, but everyone knows who that dog is. I know who many "heartdogs" are for many of my friends and acquaintances, but if you have had (or currently have) a "heartdog" you know it! So, my question is: Is your "heartdog" a doodle? They are definitely special dogs and my first doodle was my heartdog. No other dog will live up to him, even though they may try. He was something special to be sure. Here is a photo of Hondo tide pooling at Carmel Beach. He died on 09-18-10.

Samantha's twin!!! I know how you feel about Hondo - there is something very special about these 2. You and I have discussed it before.

I'd have to say each one found a piece of my heart. It is like my son's. Both so different but no way could I ever love one over the other.

I will say, Spud is being rather nasty tonight as he just stole my bed pillow and drags it through the house--AGAIN. And fondly, I will remember these moments and it will make me smile too.

Linda, it sounds like you are really missing Hondo today. I'm sorry. I hope the memories are good. Yesterday, I had one of those days. Starlit was on my mind constantly. That had not happened in long while. They were good memories this time though. I hope yours are today also.

My memories of Hondo are great. He was a great dog and I have wonderful memories of him.

This boy is my heart dog of all time. He lives a very "measured life" as my DH describes it. I was just remarking to my family that it is as though Kona carefully considers what each of us might want of him and then complies as best he can. He curls up with our DD when she is having migraines, he loves to exercise with my DH, he comes to my side of the bed each morning to greet me with tail wagging, he hates being scolded so does next to nothing wrong ever. He is gentle and calm and very, very loving. When I sit on the couch he will sidle up to me and tuck the bridge of his nose under my chin to snuggle in close. He makes me smile and warms my heart day after day. He is my Kona-boy.
