Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello Everyone!

I am so glad I found this site. Charlie, 5.5 months old, recently came into our lives (just last week) after being abandoned. We weren't sure what he was, but he's all clean now and we suspect he is a Goldendoodle of some sort. He had two different kinds of bad worms, matted fluff, and was starving to death. I'm so glad he found us when he did, he wouldn't have lasted much longer.

I haven't navigated a forum in years, so please excuse me while I stumble around. I'll be posting more pictures soon, any insight you have into what kind of Doodle Charlie is would be most helpful. We were quite happy with our other rescue, Hampton, never thinking in a million years we could take in another pup. Hampton, a schnauzer-corgi-terrier, maybe 6 or 7 years old, found his way into our family via the Florida Little Dog Rescue. He has quite the story, he once lived with over 75 dogs in a trailer with no electricity and no running water, one of the worst hoarding cases in the area. Despite the cruelty he endured, he is an intuitive and loving big-brother and is teaching Charlie the ropes.

Charlie is all puppy. I have very limited experience with training a puppy, so reading through the threads is really helping me. I've learned so many things about raising a good Doodle. Thank you all in advance for all of the great advice and postings you've created. I don't feel so overwhelmed and I feel better equipped to help Charlie become the best Doodle in the land!

Thanks again for your hospitality, if you need me, I'll be searching through the topics, soaking up all the knowledge I can get!

Welcome to DK. Charlie and Hampton sound like gems and you are a wonderful person for having rescued them.

Thanks F, Calla & Luca!  Charlie and Hampton are doing great (Hampton's hunger strike is over) and they are playing with toys and keeping the yard free of moles, anoles, and pine cones.  Hampton is teaching Charlie the ropes, but Charlie is teaching Hampton not to take life so serious.  Hampton never understood what a ball was for until Charlie taught him that they're way more fun than fetching babies (Hampton's toys).  They are so good for each other, and us too!

Welcome!  Thank you for being an angel for the canine members of your family!!

Thank you Pat and Traveler!  We wouldn't have it any other way!

Welcome to DK, Diane. Thank you for adopting, rescue dogs are the best. :)

I would say that Charlie is probably a Labradoodle rather than a Goldendoodle, due to his pigment and especially his light colored eyes. You see lighter colored eyes in Labs, not so much in Goldens. In fact, it's possible that he is what is called a "multi-gen" (multi-generational) or even an ALD (Australian Labradoodle). Contrary to what some might think, ALDS turn up in rescue fairly regularly, along with every other type of doodle.

Whatever he is, he's very cute and very lucky to have found a home with you!

Thanks Karen & Jackdoodle!  It's beyond my imagination why/how anyone could abandon a good, beautiful, charming dog like Charlie.  Hampton and Charlie are great spokesdogs for rescue/adoption and as soon as Charlie has all his shots, we're going to do what we can to help other doggies out there find good homes.  :)

Diane, welcome to DK.  Charlie is adorable,  but there really is no way to tell which flavor he is.  Some of my girls littermates did end up with lighter noses and eyes, she is definitely  a Goldendoodle

He is a very lucky boy!

Thanks, Sally!  He IS adorable!  He has the best personality, too!  He's all puppy, and I'm exhausted, but he is SO worth it, just a good dog all around.

I think Charlie is a multigenerational Australian Labradoodle also.  He is adorable.  Thanks for saving his life!
