Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello, I'm Gracie's new mom. She is just 9 weeks old and about 3 weeks ago I would have never given a puppy a second thought.
We had two dogs already. My oldest was Bristow. He was a beagle basset mix that we got from the animal shelter. He came to us at 5 years old. We were told that he was 2-3. Our vet told us more like 3-5. Anyway, he fit right into our home. But, this past summer he started getting sick all of the time. They couldn't find anything wrong with his bloodwork and said that most likely it was a tumor. Since he was 10 years old, we just took care of him the best we could until it got to the point that he was in a lot of pain. We miss him dearly. I will see if I can upload a pic of him.
Our other dog is Barkley - he is a Schnoodle (that's why I said sort of in the title - he is an oodle just not a doodle) :D We adopted him from a rescue center about 7 years ago. He and Bristow were best friends from the start. There was never any jealousy or anything of the sort when we brought Bristow home.
It's a whole other story with out newest addition. ;)
My husband met a labradoodle (at work) and fell in love with how smart it was even in the first meeting. He had his customer send him a pic. I said No! We still had Bristow to take care of. However as things progressed with him - he was put to sleep right before Christmas. A week later we decided to go "look". Just look I said.
My husband who says he doesn't like my dogs was enamored right way with Gracie. She was the only female in the bunch and this go around he wanted a female (his parents always have females on the farm and they think females make the best companions - not my opinion). He's the one that couldn't say no to her face!
This was an "oops" litter, but now after researching the breed I'm not so sure. :(
Anyway, she's here now. In my life like a brand new baby! Guess who is taking care of her? Yep - me! Lol
We are all adjusting to this brand new experience our first labradoodle plus it's been a long time since we've had a puppy!
Barkley is adjusting, but he's doing so in his own time like an old man! :D
Wrapping this story up - I'm glad to find an active forum to share and to ask questions.

Oh. Forgot to mention that I uploaded a few pics one with Barkley and Gracie. If you want to take a look at old man Barkely. Gracie is an F1 and she has fuzzy hair. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photos.
