We're getting ready to leave for several days and have to leave Banjo at the boarders.  I had him cut/groomed on Monday and last night noticed scabby little things around his neck area.   He's scratching quite a bit this morning.   We're heading out in just an hour......do you think I need to be concerned?????     Arghhhhhh!!!!!

That's how Murph's hot spot started....itchy, scabby area on his tail.  The problem with him (and how I noticed it) was that he could get at it with his tongue so it got infected.  If it's on Banjo's neck I'm thinking he can't lick the area.  How long are you going to be away?  I'd just have them watch it at the Boarding Facility.  Don't worry...have fun and he'll be fine.
Carol, have you checked for fleas?
Maybe the grooming irritated his skin? I'd tell the boarding place to try some soothing cram, hydrocortisone with aloe or something. They know dogs I'm sure and will be able to tell if it becomes a real problem. Enjoy your trip.

I know you are already gone, but Trixi got that after her first groom/cut.  It looked almost like dandruff and she was very itchy.  After a day, I ended up bringing her in the tub and just putting some oatmeal based dog conditioner on her (I didn't shampoo her again since I didn't want to dry her skin out even more).  As soon as her hair dried, the flaking and itching was gone.

Hope he gets better soon and no fleas!! Probably irritation-what timing our doods have?
