I have researched long and hard and put policy next to policy for the last couple of weeks. Here are the top two choices and the differences.

Trupanion charges $29.47 per month with a $200 "per incident" deductible and pays 90 percent for accidents, illness and prescriptions with no pay out limit.

Embrace charges $30.28 per month with a $200 "annual" deductible and pays 80 percent for accidents, illness and prescriptions with a $10,000 annual pay out limit.

Does anyone have experience with either company? Embrace is rated the number one carrier by consumer reports.

Your tone sounds great as well. :-)

Happy new year.

After reading the below posts, is there a pet insurance that cover vaccinations or routine visits? Would it make sense to get Banfields Wellness plan $20 per month that covers all vaccines and routine visits. I was thinking I could do that for the 1st year which is typically more expensive and then get Pet Plan after that for more unexpected costs?

My breeder will already have the 1st set of vaccines and spay done when we get our puppy so I don't have to worry about that major expense.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Unless your Banfield is really good, I would not go with that. A lot of DK members have a bad experience with Banfield. I would get the insurance as soon as you get your puppy and stick with it. Remember, that if you switch later on, any previous illnesses will be treated as pre-existing condition and will not be covered. Vaccinations or routine visits are almost never covered. But then again, those are the "cheap" vet visits. In my opinion, pet insurance is for the catastrophic scenarios and injuries. Hopefully, none of us will ever need it.

I have PetPlan and so far Ive had no complaints, but I'm open to other carriers.

We have Pet Plan for Mickey, our Vet recommended it.

Sandy, we are on Healthy Paws. I was deciding between PetPlan and Healthy Paws just because they have the highest ratings on http://www.petinsurancereview.com/dog.aspI pay about $25 per each dog a month. We have $200 deductible per year and they cover 90%, minus the office call charge. And then 80% of emergency visits. There is no yearly limit. I think they lately added alternative medicine as well. To be honest, I could have used the insurance when Monty was little, we had to visit the ER vet twice before he turned 1 year. Auggie, so far so good, not a single claim. I'm just content that I have "it" in case something major happens.

You can ask for free quotes from all of the insurances on the website that I gave you.

And I've just noticed that the discussion is from 2011. LOL!
