Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Yes folks, the Hopeless Doodle Addict Trophy is STILL in Ohio!  Recently the coveted trophy was passed on to me by the previous recipient, Joanne, her doodle husband Roger and their doodles, Spud and Starlit.  Many thanks to Joanne, Roger, Joanne's Mom, Spud and Starlit for the great gifts and the kind hospitality each time we get the opportunity to see you.  We had the opportunity to pass the trophy on in person AND have a mini doodle romp at the same time with some more DK members.  We met up at Bow Wow Beach in Stow, OH. The weather was perfect and we all had a great time!  Joanne tried to have all the doodles in attendance touch their noses to the trophy.  Could this be a new tradition?  I guess if you don't like doggy germs then maybe not!  (I left the doodle nose prints on the trophy for the next recipient!)

Along with the trophy and HDA journal Joanne sent an Akron T-shirt from the town that she  lives in (she kindly washed the shirt to remove the cat hair because her cat had slept in the box that the trophy and gifts were transported in, thanks Joanne!), Roger sent a couple bags of his delicious home baked cookies for Sheba and Duke and our foster doodle, Ralph, to share. Spud and Starlit sent a couple of their favorite indoor toys (Skinneez).  Wow, they even match Sheba and Duke's coat colors!  Joanne's mother sent an adorable little key chain that has little charms on it relating to dogs and there was also a Akron, OH Visitors Guide.

And now for my Hopeless Doodle Addict acceptance speech....
First, I want to thank Adina and Clark who created this wonderful forum and have put in countless hours giving us all a wonderful place to visit and for creating the beautiful DK calendars.  Because of them, and countless others who have contributed to this site, we all  have a wealth of knowledge to draw from and have become more enlightened dog owners.  Because of DK, I have had the opportunity to meet and befriend many DK members at romps and "met" many members online that I hope to someday meet in person.  Thanks for the support, kind words and fun times, you guys rock!  I am now fostering a handsome LD named Ralph.  Because of DK I have met up with some great people in the DK community who want to save doodles and offer them a better life. Thanks to the Doodle Rescue Collective for entrusting me with these beautiful beings and giving me a chance to help.  I never realized when I clicked on that button to join DK that it would become such a big part of my life!  Many nights when my DH, Mike, gets home from work he asks me, "What's happening on DK"?  Mike knows the names of quite a few DK members and their doodles names.  He has also attended quite a few romps with me and taken lots of great photos which leaves me time to visit with everyone.  If you read this, thanks honey for letting me indulge! Last, but not least, thanks to my beautiful, wonderful, goofy doods, Sweet Sheba and Duke "Nubby" Brown for bringing lots of joy and unconditional love into my life!

Are you wondering who will receive the HDA trophy next?  I guess you'll just have to wait and see!

Maybe we'll try an agility class this winter with the dogs. I think it would be a lot of fun during the dull, dreary winter days. Sheba and Duke love to climb through the tube and run up and down the ramp at the dog park. I'll have to check out the photos that Nancy took. She has a good "eye" and takes some great photos. The photos that you took of Gracie are wonderful. I especially like the top one. You did a great job! Mike is much better with action shots than I am. I get frustrated because it's hard for me to see the display on the back of the camera without my glasses. I guess they should be sitting on my face and not stuffed in my purse! There are so many things to try to remember when taking a good photo that it can get a little frustrating. (Lighting, camera settings, composition etc. etc.)
I was really frustrated taking those pics of Gracie because she cooperated perfectly and I get blurs! I finally realized that I probably move the camera trying to follow the action. However when I set my camera on sport the pictures are blurrier than when I just set on automatic automatic. My DH is going to take pictures next time so we will see if the pictures are not blurry. If they aren't we will know it is me (and I suspect it is).
Ann, that would be really hard to go to a park and listen to the dogs in the shelter :(
Oh Gracie--You MUST come to Ohio! I see that Paw is all better :)
Wow. Spud, way to go! Gracie - you fly!
Congratulations!!! Looks like you had a beautiful day for the romp. Great pictures!!
Thank you Kathy.
Many congrats on being the HDA recipient!
Thank you Nina! Too bad it's just a once in a lifetime award. : )
A doodle romp and a trophy! What a great day! Congrats.
Thank you Leslie!
