The article I have a link to on cnn.com states that the chemicals in the Glade Plug-ins and a few other household cleaners can cause health problems in dogs. I've also heard that Frabreeze can cause health problems as well.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this?

Here is another informative link: (thank you F, Calla & Luca for providing it)

Added note:

I have had pet birds for 20 years and I'm always very conscious of any airborne type cleaners, fragences, etc. as this potential hazards can kill them. Even overheating teflon coated pans can kill a bird and I've had a friend who lost her bird to this mistake. I remember hearing stories a few years ago when Febreeze came out on the market that it was causing health issues in dogs and cats whose owners would spray their animal beds and couches with the fabric freshener.

Here is a link to a news report on ABC about if these kinds of reports are true or not.

I, personally, still try to be more cautious regardless of what is being reported.

Thanks Laurie! I just knew you would get it especially since it had to do with rodents.

Thank you Karen. I only hope that F is able to understand  comprehend appreciate the ingenuity of it too.  If not could you please explain it to her?

LOL, I'm sure she appreciates it. :)

LOL....I'll try, but she does use those big words :)

Took the words right out of my mouth. Vinegar reminds me of entering my old Aunts apt. building in the winter months, with the heat cranked up, in New York. Old lady smell.
I do use it to clean our coffee pot tho.

Also good for cleaning the bottoms of vases and narrow glassware, like champagne flutes.

I use it for getting all kins of things with hard water deposits clean. Beats scrubbing, just soak in a dilute solution overnight. Shower head etc. and it's fair at killing weeds : )

I heard it is good to put on a dog's neck for earaches :) Just kidding...old joke :)

Laurie, you're killing me tonight!

You also can use vinegar water to 'set' the color in fabrics - like my kids' bathing suits.  Imagine every season beginning their competitive swim  events smelling like vinegar!  Yup! Luckily they got over it.

I knew WHO would appreciate that comment! Sorry, Sharlan, for hijacking this discussion with hijinks.

I think that we shouldn't jump to conclusions here--in the comment section, someone asks for proof and the woman who wrote this says "there has been research done and a breeder had two puppies with defects"--that is hardly proof of anything and the author is not stating what research has been done and where--I think it is bogus.
