Full disclosure, I am really interested, personally, in how you found DoodleKisses as I think it's a fun topic and helps us all get to know each other better. But, I'm also asking because I'm starting a new company (more details later I'm sure) that will, in the first 6 months, rely heavily upon locating influential people (women primarily) on social media sites who like to help people and tend to forward things (helpful and valuable things - not time wasters) to others who then take action.
Sorry I can't go into full detail on what I'm talking about - I will at some point.
Anyway - what made you seek DoodleKisses? Did you join any other doodle/dog forums prior? after? Do you participate in other forums? How many?
I found Doodle Zoo by way of Ann's Doodle Chat - a small forum that many of Boomer and Mariner's siblings' owners were active on. Ann's Doodle Chat was suggested by the person that recommended Boomer and Mariner's breeder.
Same for me. And then I got an invitation from Adina. I knew of the Zoo site because I was an IDOG volunteer and was told about it by one of the IDOG directors.
I participate in three forums on a regular basis, one of which is our DRC site. I "lurk" in a few others.
Actually, I think that most people who participate actively in a forum about a topic that they are passionate about (I mean, not a generic forum but one that is very focused) came to the forum because someone in the real world told them about it. I guess that makes sense because you are probably "practicing what you preach" (like, enjoying your time with your dog at the dog park) when someone recommends a place where you can find more people who share your interest.
I was frantically Googling for information and help with Tara's grooming issues and DK came up on a search!!! Heaven!! No other social forums before or after.
This is how I came across it also! I don't remember what I was searching but I searched EVERYTHING related to doodles while waiting for Hudson! I was soo excited to find DK, hubby not so much haha
I found DoodleKisses when I was reading a Goldendoodle group on Facebook. Someone mentioned DK -- so I went to find out what it was. I am an internet junky. I have several forums that I am active in some I do more reading, others more posting, some have large communities, some have small. (A deal message forum that discusses great bargains, two or three different sites for Moms to share advice/tips and vent, a photography forum, etc.)
One of my first "online" computing experiences was posting on BBS'es in the 90s.. :) Old school!
