Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I see so many cute names here that I just have to wonder...where they came from.
Molly is named after a very good friend of mine whom I adore. Our lab Bear was named by his first family and we decided to keep it since he knew it was his. Heidi was my mom's doxie who now has her forever home with us.
So if you don't mind sharing....how did you pick your puppies names?

My dog I had before my doodles, a big lab/chow/shar pei mix had the funnest name ever. We couldn't think of any names at first. The day we got her we were all throwing names around sitting in the back yard while she was playing and my dad looked over his shoulder at a water jug sitting there and said "Juggs". That was it, she was Juggs from there on out. Boy did we get looks at the vet's office and such when they yelled "Juggs" lol
My rescue dog I named Lucy, after the greatest comedian ever, Lucille Ball.
My first doodle, we named 'Magnet' because she is stuck like glue to you. Her name was almost Velcro, but just didn't have the right ring to it. My original thought was to name her either Viviann or Ethel, to go with Lucy, but everyone in the family vetoed it lol
My baby doodle, Smudge, since she is black, we wanted to name her something that represented black. After much deliberation, she became Smudge.
We like to have fun with names, Lucy is the only 'common' name we picked. But I like unusual names myself.
I love the name Teddy! It was one of my favorites and I agree - VERY appropriate for a goldendoodle!
Gavin is named after Denis Leary's character Tommy Gavin on our favourite TV show Rescure Me.
A funny story: We were out walking and some people in a yard called us over (as is usual) because they wanted to know his breed. After greeting he started nosing around (as is usual) and I said "ok, come on snoopy." They laughed about his name being snoopy and I said "oh no, that's not his name, it''s Gavin." They looked at me quizically and then said, "oh, you let the kids name him"...uh no, "ohhh, he was named when you got him," uh no. Well they concluded, they naever heard of a dog named Gavin. There was a wonderful Iraq war vet yellow lab named Gavin that was rehabed on the Dog Whisperer. I remember how Caesar turned away crying when he left the centre. So did I. Very special dog.
On another note, it seems that most kids that meet him want to call him Shaggy. I like that too.
