Lucy does not touch my tree or the gifts under it, and there are many. BUT, as she walks past it, her tail hits the bottom and knocks the decorations off. So far only one has broken, but I find them under chairs, in the kitchen, laying in the middle of the floor etc. etc. I am very grateful that she does not intentionally take anything off the tree, but I have to stop that tail wagging as she passes it. Next year I am only going to decorate the top half. Am I the only one that has a 1/2 decorated tree??????
Ha, same here. We have several trees in our house and when the dogs run in the living room they about take down my medium tree. I have to put decorations back on lots!!
Halas hasn't messed with the tree or the ornaments, purposefully or accidentally. However, all of the stuffies from Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys are another story. Yesterday afternoon, while I was at work, he pulled all but 2 of them off of the table they were on. Only one had minor damage. The rest were spared Halas' usual stuffy treatment. They are now all safely on higher ground.
A few years ago, before we got Holly; our big dog was an 85 pound German Shepherd/Golden Retriever/Wolf cross named Sara Lee. Sara loved our cat as much as Holly does now and would play with him for hours. One time we came into the living room to find the tree, which was standing in a corner, HALF LIT. The right side of the tree was lit up and the left side completely was completely dark, just about right down the center of the tree.
What had happened was that Sara had chased Felix and he ran around the back of the tree. Of course, the big dog followed him and turned the tree counter-clockwise 90 degrees. We had only decorated the front of the tree and the half which was dark was actually the back of the tree which had no lights.
What was really strange was that there wasn't one ornament knocked off the tree during the chase.
The bows seem to be a favorite... it has really been a big toss up between the bows on the lower branches of the tree or the logs brought in for the fireplace..... uggghhh!~
We have the same problem, and this year we added a second doodle tail! The top half has a few breakable ornaments but the bottom is all unbreakable and a few less too. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
Tanner as been really good around the Christmas Tree, His first Christmas was last year and all he did was smelled the bulbs...Now, I can't have any stuffed toys around, because he thinks they are his.
