How many pictures on your DK page?

I added 4 more photos to my page today and then noticed that I now have 200.  Holy doodle bug - I don't think I ever had that many total of my 3 children!  This got me to thinking - if my computer drive crashed - all I would have is what is stored in cyber space on DK.  So what is the limit we are allowed to have stored on DK.  I've noticed that my slideshow doesn't start with my first picture anymore - that makes me sad as I loved to see the entire thing - Clark - can you change that?  So how many photos are on YOUR DK page?

Jane, you have the option of setting the photo slideshow on your page to random or it will show the photos in a certain order.

I use the random one because I think it's more intersting to watch, but you do have other options.

I added two photos today, bringing my total to 95.

I don't know if there is a limit. But it is vital to back up your photos, and documents, in case of a crash. I use a back up hard drive, big ones are inexpensive nowadays. Of course I don't do this as regularly as I should. I have 494 photos on my page but they are not all of my doodles : ) You can put your photos in albums and then the first ones remain first within the album but you can rearrange them if you want to.

I have 95 photos.  Looking at them I realized I haven't added any from our swimming adventures.  After the 4th of July I got knocked off the dock into the river with camera.  So needless to say I'm alittle nervous around water with a camera in my hands, lol.

I must second the get a back up arrangement of some sort set up for your computer if you keep a lot of photos on it.  I crashed a year or so ago but fortunately the computer geeks were able to save what was on my old computer onto a disk and get everything fixed and then put back on my computer.  They charged me extra to get all my pics off because there were so many.  I month or two later I crashed again and they couldn't retrieve anything so fortunately I at least had the original disk and got to still have those.  We have have a backup drive installed on each of our computers that automatically saves every so often.  But, to answer your question I have 177 pics saved on DK.  I know that I believe it was Jane and Guinness that lost all hers once except what was on DK.

Yes, it was me.  I was heartbroken, and now I run a back-up once a month.  I lost many of my really special pictures....tough lesson.

:o( So sad!!!  Yes back up, back up ... we too have an external hard drive  DH is a computer GEEK - in the good sense of the word!  THANK GOD! ( He doesn't know it yet, but I am going to have him help me with the flat Doodle idea.... I'll have to think about that tomorrow though... crazy weekend and now it's way past sleepy time - LOL)

Hi Jane,

Each slide show can only contain 100 slides.  So once you are over that amount it takes the most recent - or you can set it to random.  As F. suggested, one way to have your slide show start with a specific photo is to create an album that has 100 pictures or less in it and just have your slideshow be pulled from that album.  It will pull pix based on the order you added them to the album.  Hope that helps!

 

And yes, external hard drives are cheap now.  You can get 1 Terrabyte USB models for less than $100.  They just plug into your USB drive and can back up your whole system while you sleep.  It really is cheap insurance.  Now if I could just get Adina to back up more often...

Clark - I am clueless.  So if I were to walk into Best Buy and say that I need a Terrabyte USB model external hard drive - they would know what I need?  And then it just plugs into my laptop?  And it knows what it should do?  I'll buy one this week but I may need additional help.  I need that book - "computers for old people".  One other question Clark - if I want to bold or under line something in this message - it does't work - never has - just doesn't do anything - why would that be?

Doesn't is seem that you should be able to do it both ways?  Oh well, I'm not very good at this computer stuff.
