Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I live in San Diego and we take our 9 month old Labradoodle to the beach quite often. He gets so sandy that I have no choice but to hose him off. I don't use soap more than once per week, but is that even too much? How often can you wash them without upsetting their skin? Anyone have any tricks for getting sand of out hair?!

Daisy LOVES the water, lake, pool, shower - she is all in.

Are you serious that he doesn't like the water - what's up with that, tell him he's a retriever for heavens sake.

I bathe Bodie weekly. He's a year old, and we use Kelco Puppy Tears shampoo. Soap free, no perfume and sodium free. This is what our groomer uses. http://www.bestpetsupply.com/brands/Kelco-Industries/2322.asp

This is the conditioner we use. Also recommended by our groomer. Coat Handler Coat Conditioner. http://www.cherrybrook.com/index.cfm/a/catalog.prodShow/vid/343141/...

We have never had any issues bathing him this often, I think unless your dog has skin issues, it's a matter of personal preference. He sleeps on our bed, and I prefer a clean smelling dog. :)

I think it also depends on size - it takes DH and I over an hour to bathe Cooper together (im the sucker who always has to get IN the tub with her to hold her in!), and thats just the wash and rinse with a shampoo and conditioner in 1. im sure a smaller dog would be much easier
