How often do you give bones or bully sticks?

I just realized that my poor puppy has only had 2 bones in the 5 months I've had her and 3 bully sticks. Am I the meanest dog owner out there? How often do you guys give your dogs new bones or bully sticks or other treats like that?

I tend to reserve them for times when she is just drving me crazy and I can't take it anymore. I guess that doesn't happen that often...

I gave bully sticks much more often when they were your pups age,probably a least one a week or more, but as they got bigger and ate them faster they both would get upset stomachs from them. I get cow ears or some sort of chew once a month when I get their food and otherwise they have antlers that they use off and on during the week. I get fresh cut bones at the grocery store, freeze them and they get those when it close to bath time. I let them have any raw meat on the bone and marrow and I'm not sure why one would take it out as it is good for them but very messy, hence the bath. They get those about every two weeks. They both have a raw food diet one day a week or so and the raw bone is part of that days menu usually. It takes them a good long time to get the marrow out and then I pick take them away as they are such strong chewers, they actually break the bones in pieces. Otherwise they get dehydrated beef liver or sweet potatoe treats I make them and that's all besides kibble or some home cooking.

This is a good thread and something I hadn't thought of before.

Are there any consequences of giving a lot of treats or bones if your puppy is not over-weight and has a good to OK digestion? We give our 5 month puppy a Nylabone edible bone every day and the 3 calorie Zuke's treats during training and when she peeps/poops outside. She also gets 2-3 teaspoons of peanut butter every day.

Is that too much?
