I know I am too worried already but still I have this in my head all the time and need some advice.
We are going to add a second doodle to our family, a puppy.
As I know that puppies still need a lot of rest I am wondering how to do that with Mr. neverending energy Benny. Benny turned 10 months today and he still is so playful and can't find an end.
Benny is not crated anymore as he never really got used to the crate. I think it will be difficult to bring the new puppy home because Benny will be over excited and will want to play ALL THE TIME. Even if I crate the new puppy I assume that Benny will act like crazy in front of the crate and the puppy won't get any sleep. So that would mean I would need to separate them which I don't want to do either in the beginning so that they get used to each other as soon as possible.
I know many of you have added already a second puppy to the family so I would be thankful for some advice.

You are over-thinking it =)
Puppies do need rest, but crate time will offer that.
Crating one dog does NOT really bother the others--I've done it with Rosco and friend's puppy. They will all be just fine =)
My friend's puppy who I babysat frequently was a total energizer bunny...would FLY out of her crate every time. BUT she was a total angel and sweet and quiet in her crate, despite the freedom of my other dogs around her. Where does Benny sleep at night?
I thought already that I am worrying too much, but that's what you get while being on a waiting list hehe...
Benny is sleeping in his dog bed downstairs in the livingroom or on the couch downstairs. We have tried letting him sleep upstairs in the bedroom and he went into his dogbed without any problems there.BUT in the middle of the night we woke up because Benny decided to sleep with us in bed as well and was laying on both our pillows and pushing us to the end of the bed. After that happened night by night and my boyfriend's allergy got worse we decided that he needs to sleep downstairs and we installed a baby gate so that he cannot get upstairs anymore.
I was planning to put the crate for the puppy in the bedroom during nighttime until he/she is pottytrained and downstairs during the day. I hope that Benny doesn't start whining when he has to stay downstairs during the night while the puppy can sleep upstairs.
I am not worrying about the puppy in the crate for resting but I am worrying about Benny to freak out in front of the cage....
Maybe it will all be easier than I am expecting it to be, at least I hope :)
I am no expert...but we just added a puppy a week ago last Friday....Comiskey is 15 months and has always been high energy....she has always demanded a lot of our time....well suprise...suprise...Beemer and her play so much that they manage to get tired at the same time....Beemer goes in his crate...and Comiskey (who never liked the crate and still doesn't) falls asleep on the floor....he usually sleeps about 2 hours...and so does she....then everyone gets up and the craziness starts all over again....it is so much fun to watch them....good luck....
I hope this will work for us as well, thanks for sharing.
