Okay, East Coasters.... when you can please check in with us. I'm up in the middle of the night on the west coast, watching the news and wondering how all of you are doing!

So glad you are safe! Darling picture of Jack. So sorry about all the destruction, and your own loss of childhood's Jersey shore.
Thanks Pat, it is so overwhelming.
Glad you are OK. If you keep those tree roots moist you might be able to replant them with help. I did this with a small hemlock that was dug up by a bucket loader for repairs a number of years ago. It was in my side yard a couple of weeks, completely out of the ground. Today it is alive and well. Still no power here.
I was thinking about that but these plum trees have shallow roots and they've been "leaners" for a while now. We figured it was just a matter of time. Their tops are resting on our fence, luckily it isn't damaged. I sure hope you hear something on your power soon! Are you keeping warm enough? It's getting colder. There's a spare bedroom here!
Bless you but my generator powers the heat and so far so good.
Janie, I'm so glad you're safe and have power back. It's heartbreaking to see what has happened to the CT and Jersey shores. We've been renting the same beach house every Summer since I was a kid and from what I hear it's in bad shape....not sure if it can even be repaired. This was a devastating storm.
Jane, I hope you are damage free in CT? Was your beach house in CT or NJ? Hope you all are fine!
Janie, Glad to hear you are safe!! I am so sorry about your beloved Jersey shore. It is all just so sad! Hang in there!
Thanks Laurie, I hope you weren't hit too bad where you are.
Don't know if this will help but F.J. and I use our Solar Lights when the power goes out. We go outside and yank them from the yard. It works and is safer than candles. But, who knows if any are around now in people's yards. It is an idea
