I am in an area where hurricane sandy hit bad.. On my Facebook I am friends with the local shelter The town of Hempstead they just posted a post stating that a male Labradoodle mix that is very friendly is up for adoption due to the fact that his family lost their home in hurricane Sandy. I am waiting for more information on him. If you or someone you know may be interested message me or comment me here with ur number and I can text u a pic that I took of the Facebook page. Sorry if I'm not allowed to post this.. But due to the situation I had to.. I know this shelter is over populated with dogs due to the hurricane :(

It can take several days for the listings to get posted on Petfinder after the shelter or rescue submits them. A link to the shelter website or to the FB posting would be very helpful, as Joanne mentioned. If someone here on DK sees this discussion and is interested, they have no way to contact anyone.

It says it is ON HOLD. Whatever that means. Maybe DRC has contacted the shelter.

In the LI Newsday, it says many are being offered to " Take Home Free" for the holidays.  So no dogs have to be alone on the holiday. I like this--sometimes. For well-adjusted dogs.  This way, many find that it is a good fit. I am sure, with all those animals, there is one for your son.

The one above is 17950426, so possible a different Doodle.

17950426 is his Petango listing ID number, not his shelter number. It's the same dog.

hey yes thats him!!!! on hold means that someone dropped him there.. they have to hold the dog for a certain number of days i think a week or so.. im not positive.. then the dog is either put up for adoption or if not good for adoption euthanized..
