I just might lose my lunch over this...I'm so upset I could cry.....or skin two dogs...haven't decided yet.(crate update)

Yes, they are still puppies. Yes, we walk them every single day and play and play and play and play. Yes we thought we had totally puppy proofed our dining room but somehow, our beaver doodles CHEWED their way into a cabinet and drug out, tore-up and chewed beyond recognition some of my linen napkins, a Longeburger basket and liner, and antique cookbook of my great grandmothers (with her writing in it) and of all things, a bottle of Elmer's glue...all in a 3 hour period.

When I opened the front door today, Penny was standing on the gate with one of the Longeberger liners in her mouth, all proud of herself and making happy, happy, wookie noises. Ginger knew right away that they were in BIG trouble and immediately ran for cover as if I was going to beat her or something. There they both stood, covered in glue and pieces of antique cookbook stuck all over them...I would have laughed if I hadn't been about to throw up. I don't know what to do. We've tried everything except selling them….CHEAP! Oh! And one more YES….They had plenty of toys to chew on. I guess it’s time to kennel them during the day. So sad though, we got two so that they would have each other and stay out of trouble. Instead, they are partners in crime on a mission to destroy my house one bite at a time.

Donna I tried a few ways to post this article and can't seem to get it here. My email is rhalvorson@netecin.net and if you send to me an email I'll be able to send it that way. I can send you some other info too and have also got some Training Tips on our website on the page labeled with that which could be helpful to you: www.adhonayslabradoodles.com. sorry I couldn't just get it on here for you.

That's great Sherri I so appreciate it.  My girls are pretty well trained as far as basic commands and ringing the bell when they need to go outside, leave it...stuff like that .  Crate training however is brand new to us. We did attempt to train our first girl in one and she did like to hang out in it (with the door open) but we never needed to leave her in it...she was so good.....until we got Penny }:-/  but over all, we can't complain. They never misbehave when we're home. They just can't be trusted alone..

Sherri thank you for sharing that.  That is very valuable and helpful information. I'm going to check out the receipes for our boy, Higby.
You're welcome

After re-reading your post, I'm so scared our Doodle will do something this destructive!!!!  Since making my last comment, he did break the plastic floor track in our shower trying to get in, and he ate up our leather checkbook cover and most of the checks.  In the same day, he also jumped up to the table and helped himself to a wooden napkin ring and napkin!  I was completely devastated!  Of course I scolded him with a 'lil paper I have rolled up, but I don't know if it made an impression on him or not!  We start obedient school this Wed so I'm hoping I'll learn some techiques to better train him.

I think we're all going through the same thing just at different levels!

Hang in there with me! ha

I am so sorry about your Grandmother's cookbook, but it does make me feel fortunate that my doodle just tore up the novel I was reading - 50 pages from the front and 50 pages from the back.  I had read the first part, but was in the middle of the book and still had to read the last part.  But...it can be replaced.  My DH left the dogs in the house because it was raining outside and he wanted to work in his shop.  An hour later, the toilet paper, trash cans, tissue boxes, my slippers, and my book were torn up and scattered around the house.  My DH took the dogs and went grocery shopping so I could get the full effect when I came home.  My dogs have never been crated, but I may consider that for the little guy (he is the destructive one).
Hi Donna, Just wondering if you have made any progress yet with the crates? Have the doodles been forgiven yet? It's hard to crate them but at least you know that they and everything is safe. They will probably be more frisky once they are let out so beware! That's how ours are! Good luck, I wish you better days ahead. Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, today was their first day in their crates.  It wasn't too bad I guess. They were only in there for 4 hours. Ginger (the light one) did really well. Her treat was gone and she was chewing on a toy. Penny (red one)...not so much. She hadn't touched her treat and was crying a river when I got home.  They were WILD when I let them out so we threw a ball around the back yard for awhile.  They'll also get a big walk when DH gets home.  Tomorrow may be another story. Not sure if we will be able to get Penny back in.  I did throw several more treats in her crate with the door open and she did partially get in to eat them... We'll see.  Thanks for the follow-up. :)
All of these posts make me feel a little more normal and gives me hope.  Thanks.   and - are hilarious for the most part.

Hi Donna, I was able to get this into a link and now can send it here.     Let me know if you get it ok and hope it is helpful.   Sherri

Happily, I can say, I've really never had a big problem with chewing. Jersey, (the good one) never chewed anything and was in the crate until housebroken and loose in the house ever since. Jasmine was an angel too, until about a year old, then she got into a couple minor things, but nothing of any value. She hasn't done that in quite awhile. She turns two in May, I hope she stays the way she is now.
hysterical!
