Nothing major - I just washed it and put first aid ointment on it. The dog that bit me (of three Puggles - I'm not sure which one) is up to date on shots so I'm not worried. It was so strange - I've always heard that you should never jump into the middle of a dog fight but when that dog(s) went after my baby - I never took time to even think. I ran about 15 feet and literally took a flying tackle onto Stuart and kept right on rolling taking all 70 lbs of him with me and out of harms way. During the leap and roll one of the Puggles chomped into my thigh. In an ironic twist I didn't have on my usual outfit - a tennis or golf skirt - I actually had on running tights to below my knee - saved me from a worse injury, plus cellulite is hard to puncture. I've never trusted those Puggles and now know that my gut instinct was correct. One of them attacked Stuart over a ball and the rest jumped in. The owners feel bad but nobody actually saw it get started so they aren't going to accept any real blame, and all I know is that Stuart is so gentle and unassertive but when attacked he went into defense mode to protect himself, a real 1st. It WAS a stupid move on my part but without thinking I was willing to do whatever it took to protect him just on instinct. I think tomorrow that I'm going to be sore from head to toe.

Oh, gosh, that is so scary, Dianne. I am glad you are both okay.
Julie - the owners (whom I know) swear that they are up to date on shots so I don't think a tetanus shot is required. Puggles are small - maybe 8 lbs to 12 lbs. The owners have two puggles and are caring for their son's puggle for the past few months. When I took that flying leap - then Rooney dashed in too. Lucky for me it was pretty much over after that.
Sorry for all the trauma. I no longer go to dog parks. Tetanus would still be a good idea for a puncture wound if you haven't gotten an up to date booster. It has nothing to do with the dog's shots but with dirt that could have been introduced into the wound when you were bitten. Anyone who gardens etc. should get periodic, I think it's 10 year tetanus boosters.
Glad is wasn't too serious. situations like that are scary. I would have done the same thing.
I'm sweating like a pig and still shaking but this glass of wine will help - lol. This has been the worst week at our house and now this. Jeez.
Ouch! Better get some ice on that! I stopped going to bark park too when Wilson and I were chased down and chomped at by a muzzled pit bull.. we were up on a bench and I kicked him off Wilson with all my force and didnt even faze him. Heard later after another attack..he was put down by police after 3 reports on him. Poor Stuart to go through this too. It is traumatizing! Tiger mom mode!
Jane, when our previous dog was a puppy and UTD on shots my DH was playing with him and he got nipped (in fun) on his cheek. We didn't think anything of it but 2 days later he had a raging infection. Since the wound is open you should probably get to the Dr for antibiotics. Our Dr said we are lucky we didn't wait another day. He put him on a round of tetracycline and it didn't work and they moved him to something stronger.
Daisy - can I wait till tomorrow and go to the walk in clinic?
woof woof Jane say's Daisy - LOL
I would walk into the clinic tonight if it's open, if not tomorrow morning should be fine. - :o)
I agree. I was bit last year and it looked just like that on day one. Day two it swelled, bruised and hurt pretty bad. It's not the depth of the bite but the force of the jaw that makes it hurt. Even though the dog was UTD on shots I still had to get a tetanus shot and antibiotic. Better to be safe then sorry.
