I'm due to travel on Wednesday to collect my puppy from Scotland in the UK.  I had it all worked out.  Early flight to Edinburgh, hire a car, drive to breeder (2hours) collect puppy, drive back to Glasgow airport, leave car back, taxi to Car Ferry (4 hours) and be collected in Northern Ireland then a two/three hour drive home.  That was` mad enough but I just decided to do a double check with the Ferry, and they just told me catagoricaly no way could I travel with a puppy as a foot passenger.  Even though they said when I booked that I could travel with the puppy but that he would have to be crated and stay in a room on the car deck.   I got nowhere with them on the phone and I obviously can't take a chance.

So now onto Plan B. I take the 7.15 ferry to Scotland (it's a three hour drive from here) drive 3 hours.  Pick up the puppy and go back the same way on the 8pm sailing.  Oh and also it's cost me a fortune with no refund for the other fares.  So, that's 12 hours driving in total. (6 with Riley)  Am I mad....??? I have booked it so please wish me ENERGY and good luck on this coming Wednesday.

You can do this.   I drove 14 hours straight from NC to Boston once, with a dog and I am a senior citizen.  Just take your time and make stops to potty.  You will be so in love with your baby that the time will fly.  Take all kinds of pictures to post.  Good luck and congratulations.

You can do it!  Thinking of you and passing positive energy your way!!!  Take photos!!!!!!!!

How frustrating.  But on the other hand, you must me so excited that the day has arrived.

Oh Nicky, I am so sorry for all your troubles - however...

It will all be worth it when you get back...kind of like labor, every mother says never again until you get that little bundle in your arms and forget about all the pain....in this case all the pain in the butt!

So excited for you, can't wait till next weekend when you will be posting, posting, posting.

Now you'll already have an adventure to tell people about when they ask about your puppy.  Don't worry.  Everything will work out fine.  And you'll have lots of great bonding time with your new dood.
You will be awesome!  Just remember...it will be SO worth it to have your baby in your arms!  This is soo exciting!  Keep us posted!
Nicky, You can do this...I drove 600 miles home with Fudge and she was so good in the car. I drove 350 home with Vern. Just think of all that time you can bond with your new puppy :) Good luck!!

Nicky we are all sending good wishes your way for safe travels.  This will be a long journey but just think about how long you have waited for your puppy and how wonderful it's going to be to finally hold him in your arms.  I can hardly wait to see pictures and hear about your trip.

We are with you all the way honey.....

It's going to be a long day, but so worth it. Hopefully the puppy will be just as tired as you when you get home. Good luck.

OMD!! So, just so I get this right...so you have to travel 3 hours BEFORE you get on the ferry at 7:15 AM??  That's going to be a really long day!! Praying that you'll have a safe trip!
These are the memories you will always remember about how your special doodle came home:)  Good luck and wishing you lot's of positive energy for the trip.  The worst part will be getting there, the best part will be the ride back with your new bundle!!!!  Can't wait for the pics, don't forget your camera.....
Good luck with your journey. Riley will no doubt be worth it!
