We are not allowed to recommend breeders on the main discussion page--there are rules that dictate behavior on DK and that is a big no-no!! There is a section with what to look for in a breeder and there is also a breeder page where available pups can be advertised. People can also "friend" you and make recommendations in a private message on your page.

Monica, as Ginny said, the DK Guidelines do not permit breeder recommendations in the main forum.

Here is a link to the What to Look for in a Breeder information, very important to read before you buy a doodle puppy. It also contains links to the Owner recommended Breeders group as well as the DK Goldendoodle and Labradoodles for Sale Groups.

You can also look at the main page for " Doodles In Need" from the rescue groups.

Main page> scroll down to the bottom> look at the center.

Also, I would think there are a boat load of dogs in your area. As a matter of fact I know, right now, there are 250,000 dogs in need of homes everyday across America.

Use www.petfinder.com

Good Luck

Go to the left-hand side of the screen and follow the simple data entry-dog-zip code and you will find sooooooooo many dogs just waiting for YOU

However, people who have specific age & sex requirements are not usually the best candidates to adopt from the two major doodle rescues. The demand for female doodle puppies in rescue is much much greater than the number available, and when adopting a rescue dog, as you know so well, flexibility and lots of dog experience are musts.

Families with young children are also usually precluded from adopting DRC or IDOG doodles.

He is a male.

Why a female?  Okay, I love males, so I guess it is preference.

So here is a beautiful chocolate female.  It takes a little work but there are so many out there.

Good Luck.  Back to cooking dinner for me

All I did was use your zip code and a world showed up on my screen.  Consider a poodle too.

The female is with Georgia Poodle Rescue, who will not adopt to families with children under 10. The rescue that has Bingo does not specify an exact age, but has some pretty tough adoption requirements and will not adopt to families with young children either.

Copy that. No matter what they say, these pups have a hard time with kids.  Spud is still jumping on my son.  No matter how much I train.    Spud is 3.5 and my sons are in their 20s

They are a very excitable breed on their  light on their feet.

With my kids I had a very big heavy mellow Mastiff.  I don't think Spud would have survived in my household very well back in those days of  young kids.

I agree with these rescues.  I really just wish some of these websites that say, " Great Family Dog"  " Good With Kids" would stop misleading.   Certainly, not what we have been seeing or hearing.

How about "The temperament of a Golden Retriever with the hair of a Poodle", lol? Gosh, do genetics work differently with this particular mix than with any other mix, including humans? How do they know which parent's temperament the dog will inherit? Especially with the higher generations, where there hasn't been a retriever in the mixture since a great-great grandparent and even further back.

All of the myths about "good with kids, allergy-friendly, perfect family dog, low maintenance(!!!!) ,easy-going, etc." is how these dogs end up in rescue in the first place.

exactly.  low maintenance-tell that to my hips!  I just spent ten hours grooming and poor Spud always looks like Peppermint Patty.

I think, the smaller dogs might be better with the jumping, but honestly, Poodles love to jump, but a dog who is 60lbs and jumping is rough.

I don't have allergies ( or do I ?) but I had a hard time those ten hours of grooming.  Bloody nose, eyes stuck together when I woke up.

As I always say, a DYSON sweeper and a dog who sheds is a much better deal

If you have carpet. If you don't it's constant keeping up with dust bunnies...or not keeping up with them and averting your eyes (my method).

Adina,

My mother used to always say, " A clean house has neglected children"

I can find peace in a little  mess most days.

That woman has the best sayings.
