I'm not sure if it's because she's been exercising less (due to being cooped up inside during allergy season, so less water drinking) or something else (maybe the Benadryl?)... but Luna has been only peeing about 2-3 times a day for the last few weeks.

Do any of your adult doodles have "iron bladders" and don't seem to need to pee very often?  It may just be that the dog I grew up with was a small dog (14 lbs), so I expect a dog to have to pee every few hours.

She doesn't seem to mind peeing (no discomfort), the smell is normal and she drinks after playing and eating, just not as much as in the summer.

Sometimes if it's a long work day she will pee in the morning before we go to work (6:30 am), again after we come home (4:30 pm) and then refuses to pee in the evening when she's sleepy.  She takes herself to bed at around 8:30 pm, then we try to let her out a bit later, but often she won't pee, she just has a poop and wants to go back to bed.

Any thoughts?

Max has an iron bladder too.  I let all three of our dogs out before bed at about 10pm.  Izzie and Annie want to go out first thing in the morning.  Max will come downstairs and go back to sleep on the sofa.  I usually just make him go out, if he has not already asked to go out, at about 11 am or noon.  I don't know how he does it.

Thank you for the responses :) Glad to hear it's just "the way it is".

Luna pees a LONG time like Molly - I sometimes wonder if she got a GR-sized bladder in her little 35 pound body.

She's very submissive, so she doesn't mark at all, so I guess she ONLY pees when she REALLY has to.

Do girl dogs "mark" like boys? I thought that was a male trait. Murphy just started doing it this year and Bella hasn't and I hope she doesn't pick up his habits. He will mark every 3 ft or on every bush if I stopped to let him on our walks. Luckily on our runs he knows there is no stopping or it would be a very unpleasant experience for me.

Murphy has always gone frequently and I don't know if its bladder size or training, as we we're always with him his first few yrs and he was in and out with us all day, so went whenever he wanted to. Bella is given the same amount of opportunities, however, goes about 3 times a day. They have easily waited 10-12 hours without incident or a sense or urgency. We have considered letting them wait 12 hours during the day on the 1-2 days a week that DH and I both work, but I just can't bring myself to do that on purpose and still have a pet sitter about 8-10 days a month to let them out and play a little. DH says they would be fine, but I'm thinking both of their mental health as well as physical discomfort.

My last female did mark on walks. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but she was a very dominant dog. JD marks on walks, too, and he is not dominant at all, lol.

Cass, our female border collie, marked A LOT on walks.  She didn't lift her leg, but she clearly marked.  She was also quite the alpha (thought NOT at all aggressive) dog.

Sydney (our first Doodle) also marks her territory at least a dozen times when we walk her in the park.  We always thought she was an alpha, until Olivia came along ten months later who tries to bully Sydney.  When Olivia began (what we thought was marking) doing what Sydney does on walks, we questioned it.  We took her to the Vet and found out she had a UTI.

Ned seems to have the bladder of a big dog and doesn't need to pee that often.
