Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello All,
I recently joined Doodle Kisses and I am enjoying the discussions and the good information here. So I thought it was time to say Hello officially.
I am Judith and my little doodle girl is Addie. She is just over 4 months old now. She is a native North Carolinian, and I am a transplant, mostly from downstate NY. We live a little southwest of Raleigh, NC. Addie is a medium double doodle. Her dad is an Australian Labradoodle and her mom is a Goldendoodle.
I think she will be medium. At 16 weeks, she was 16 pounds. Does that sound about right?
Addie and I share the home with three cats. They are kind of giving me looks like, why did you have to bring her here? The cats and the puppy have a pact: she will chase them if they run; otherwise, she will sniff any and all available parts. The sniffing often leads to chasing, though.
Are there others from the Raleigh area on this site? It would be interesting to share local information.

Welcome to DK!! Our cat HATES our Doodles, so it is nice that yours have made a pact with Addie :) Addie is beautiful!!
Thank you.
I have one cat that loves Addie's treats but hates Addie. Of course, the cat is my female and she rules the roost and would prefer to be an only pet. My two boys are more tolerant.
A double doodle and a phantom doodle! How adorable and unique. My DH is from Raleigh but we don't live there. He still has brothers there but we haven't been back since his Mother did 8 years ago. Welcome to DK.
Thank you for the welcome.
Hi Judith ~ Addie is a cutie! When you get a chance be sure to check out the groups section on the main page and join as many as you like. Welcome to Doodle Kisses!
Love, love, love those phantom doodles. I had a phantom F1b goldendoodle and he was a wonderful dog. He had the most wonderful coat - no mats and little brushing. Take a look at my photos. But he was a large dog - 85 - 90 pounds and 30 inches tall. If Addie was 16 pounds at 16 weeks, she should be about 35-40 pounds as an adult. That sounds like an Australian Labradoodle size. My Australian Labradoodle is about 50 pounds and he is a little large for the breed. Has she had a puppy cut yet? How is her coat?
BTW - Welcome to DoodleKisses. You will love browsing through the messages posted here and reading the discussions and blogs. Enjoy!
Thank you for the welcome.
I have had Addie to the groomer once so far, but only as an introduction, not a full groom yet. She had a bath, sanitary trim, her paws trimmed and I asked them to cut some of the hair around her eyes. Sadly, they shaved down her snout and part of her brow. I am looking for another place for her next groom. She is probably due.
Addie's coat is wavy. I guess it is fleece. Her coat so far is low maintenance. Our nighttime routine is a brushing while she cuddles before bed. I bought a Chris Christiansen brush I saw recommended on here. It has wood "bristles". She loves it! I am not looking forward to the adult coat coming in and the mats that seem to come with it.
Thank you for the information on size. Her breeder said she would be about 35 pounds, I don't recall how many inches. It is nice to know the range is right. Her daddy, the ALD is small, about 25 pounds, and mom the Goldendoodle is 55 pounds. Several of daddy's pups are therapy dogs for children, and I am hoping the eventually get her certified as a therapy dog.
The cats box is already behind a gate. I am well acquainted with dogs and their love of those"tootsie rolls". I was hoping Addie wouldn't have a taste for them. I should have known better because she will grab the will grab the leash, even when it is coated with Vicks Vapor Rub; bitter apple didn't deter her at all.
Welcome to DK! Addie is adorable. I had two cats when I brought the puppy home (now just one)! They were not pleased. But it was hysterical to watch FInn try to get them to chase him. He finally gave up and chased them. Nothing worked so finally I let him drag a leash so I could step on it as he whizzed by in pursuit. He gave up the sport when he got a little older. The cats never tried to scratch him or anything which might have speeded up the learning process :) I swear the cats would push things off the counter just to get the puppy in trouble. Eyeglasses, keys. The pup would run off with them and get in trouble. Today they live happily together so there is hope :)
Welcome to DK, you will love it here! Addie is so beautiful, I love her coloring!
Addie looks so sweet and I love her markings. Welcome to DK!
