Thanks everyone! Yes-my floors are the reason I chose the apartment! Stew is adorable. I'm pretty glad I didn't go with my first choice-he was the energizer bunny, never stopped moving-my guy has taken 3 naps since we got home at 4:30 & is much calmer.
Last time I took him out, he peed & pooped! I didn't have my treats out, so I just praised like crazy! I was glad that he ate & drank, I think I would have been nervous if he hadn't.
One question-when should I make it "night time" and put him in his crate? I've been having him sniff around it, he's gone in & out with the lure of treats & snuggle puppy, but I'm nervous to just put him in there for the night. Do I put him in while he's asleep? Or would he wake up & not know where he is?

Night time in the crate for Chance was when I was ready to go to sleep. He didn't like the crate at night but usually stopped whimpering 5-10 minutes after I turned out the lights. I covered the crate with a sheet to make it seem more like a cave or den and to block little light I use for reading in bed.

Yes, I was just thinking I'd put him in soon when I go to bed. I figure they join our lives, right?

We did the same. Enz went into her crate when we went to bed. I pulled her crate next to my side of the bed, so I could hang my hand down and calm her when she'd wake and cry. Hoping your night is quiet and restful.
