Is Daphne changing color?

Daphne is now 16 months old and I had assumed that her coat is the one she will have always. As a baby she was creamy colored. As she grew and her coat changed, she is now mostly white with just a hint of creaminess on her ears and tail. She had her last grooming on June 7 and everything was normal. Three weeks later, we were visiting my parents when my Dad pointed out what I thought looked like a dirty spot on her back. Since then, the spot appears to be getting a little larger. The fur there is a dark cream and seems to be coarser than the rest of her. Everyone always says she feels like a cotton ball. The larger part of the spot is closest to her tail and seems to be inching slowly up her spine.

I don't know if this is anything to be concerned about or just a normal occurrence.  A CGC trainer suggested to me that she may be becoming parti colored. Thats kind of funny since Lucy (her Mama) is not a parti and neither are her parents. Her father is an ice white mini poodle. Others have said it looks like what happens when dogs chew on certain spots. I have never seen her chewing on her back.

Any thoughts?

Luca gets darker fur in areas hat have been injured. He has some in parts of his tail where he had sores from the trauma and bandaging of his tail. He also has one on his back now but nothing ever happened there as far as I know and the skin seems fine. I think darker hair in injured area is not unusual. I din't know if it's permanent. I don't know if this is what Daphne has either. I think to show parti coloration at his age is not likely.

I wonder if she could have been injured while playing with other Doodles? I guess its possible. I just thought I would have noticed.

I thought we had a discussion once on this happening, but I have no idea how or what to search. Maybe someone else knows. Sorry. Maybe the grooming could shed some light on this or tell you if she has seen it before.

I showed it to her groomer. She said she has never seen anything like it.

I remember a discussion about this too Laurie and it seems like Nancie's Gracie doodle had it happen. The vet thought it was from an area that had been injured.

Bodi has a darker, coarser, stripe of hair down his back.  We adopted him when he was 2, so I don't know when it occurred.  The vet mentioned, "that's the lab coming out".  Your doodles are adorable!!!  Love the slight head tilt!

Luca has a slightly darker area all the way down his back, and he has darker areas on the back of his legs and ears. But I don't think Daphne's darker hair is the same think. For one thing it is not an entire line down her back and it is much darker.

The color change at the top looks like a heart to me.  :)   Daphne and Lucy are precious!!!!!!  Such pretty coats and sweet smiling faces.
