Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Thinking back on my history of ownership of animals my very first dog Was a poodle named "Precious" or "Pup Dog" as my brother would say.  I truly loved her with all my heart.  Also in my early 20s my best friend was a German Shepard named "Romeo"  a male which is with me forever.  For me as a man I have a female Goldendoodle named "Shelby" and a Calico cat female , "Cali"  Does it matter or do you wonder?

Do you as animal owner have the opposite sex preference or tendancies?

I would love the hear your thoughts of my Doodle friends........

I live in an all male household....DH, DS, and my two Doods.  It just sort of worked out this way....I would have been fine with either a male or female Doodle.
I had a male Golden who was my buddy....after he died I could not pick another male....I thought it would be painful. So when I got my doodles, I got females. Love em all.
Nothing better to me than loving Shelby first thing in the morning.  It sets my day in motion.  I wish my wife was as warm in the morning.  LOL  Seems to be a girls world so far...
I have always had female dogs and we have had some great ones. Vern is our first male dog and he has a super personality too. My daughter has two male French Bulldogs and they are great too. I think it is more about the personality than the sex of the animal. Vern is the first male anything in our house to lend my DH any kind of support. We had two daughters, female dogs and cats up to this point.

That is so true Laurie about the personality.  The only male Doodle I have come across is Duffy, Shelbys Littermate.

Boy is he on cool Dood.  Laid back and soaking up the sun.  If mama would let me it would be a Doodle farm.  LOL'

What I have put in Shelby I have received ten fold.  (Actually way more)  Good POV

I will say Vern is the biggest Chicken Doodle of a dog I have ever had :)
I don't think it really matters, no. That being said, I have a male and I think when I get another pup it will also be a male. Just my preference. :-)

When I was growing up we had two dogs, both males. My first dog as an adult was female, a cockapoo/sheltie mix. She was easy to train and well behaved but something just didn’t click. Two years after she passed away I got another dog and purposely got a male. After Cole’ passed away I got Haley, another male; also, on purpose. I think I just like male dogs better.

My German Shepard was such a watchdog.  Personally either would be great, afterall it is what you put into them, just as a husband or wife.  I appreciate your input Anne.
Our first few dogs were females, but once we got a male it was boys all the way! They have all been mama's boys. Well, until Owen and he's his own doodle at one year. Hoping he will warm up to just hanging out with mama.
Right on Bonnie!  I would love to add more out of selfishness but for the lone reason I wont is because my world is all about Shelby.  She deserves 100 Percent of her Daddys Love.  Thankxx
I prefer males because I find females have a tendency to be "b*tchy" and I wanna be the only "b*tch" in the house! lol My Parker is just such a good boy and always wants to please his mommy!
