It's the simple things as to why I like my dog. So many little things that make my day better.
I've always HATED basements. Thank goodness we have one, but I don't like to go down there alone.
My mean sister ( the middle child) used to tell me that Billy Goat Gruff lived under the stairs and was going to grab my ankles as I went down the steps. I suppose I have a hang up because of this. Of course, blame it on her.
Spud, on command, "I'm going to the basement" or " Time to go downstairs" will get all excited, grab a toy, and go downstairs with me. Thanks Spud. After 50 years, I can finally smile when I go down the steps

We had two of them in that room and it was like if you turned your back they would slowly waddle toward the door but if you turned around to see where they were they froze in place. I swear, those things were out to get me!
I love basements. The two houses we had in town had unfinished basements. Just concrete floor, unpainted brick walls and pipes for plumbing and heat along with electrical wires running across the floor joist overhead. I had a workbench for my stained glass work, the washer and dryer were there and of course we used the basement for storage. I miss having a basement.
Peri loves our basement too! She comes with me every time I go down there. Both dogs like exploring - it's not really dark and dingy and runs the whole length of the house. We could finish it if we wanted but I like the storage!
I'm in my basement right now ;) We use it as our computer and TV room.
It has 8 foot ceilings, finished walls/floors and full-sized windows for lots of natural light... nothing scary here!
A lot of Canadian basements are used as a living space (instead of just storage). In fact basement apartments are very common too!
No basement - never had one - but I can imagine the situation. Thank heavens for your personal body guard.
How lovely that Spud help with the scary times. I hate basements too.
This is so true Joanne. Having a doodle by your side makes everything better.:)
I was afraid of our basement when i was little. Now it's fun ans enjoyable. there are 2 bedrooms, a TV and computer room, and the work out/ rod building room. And there is nothing wrong with billy goats gruff. I am manly saying this because Oliver looks like a goat, but still. Really he looks like a goats long lost brother from Scotland!!
