"Itching"

HELP-----Hope is really itching & scratching = I have tried it all from changing food to cortisone shots :( to different shampoos? Nothing seems to work-

Hi Sharee, I'm sorry to hear that your doodle is having this problem.

Itching and allergies is a very complicated issue which has been discussed here in probably hundreds of discussions. There are many many variables involved. In 90% of all cases of allergies in dogs, it is something which is inhaled, i.e. airborne allergens, which are responsible. Allergies are not well understood by general practice vets, and many of us whose dogs have suffered with severe itching have consulted with veterinary dermatology specialists. Sharee, when you say that cortisone shots did not work, do you mean that they didn't work at all, or that the effects wore off?
